If we have just over 16, there will need to be a round to bring the number of players down to just 16, so I'll draw that round and the round of 16 together so that the players with loads of byes (and the competition itself) can proceed.

And now for the highlight of your pre-tournament preparations... the rules!!!
- Straight pool
- Open draw knockout
- All players must be Irish; players whose entry has been accepted and who are found not to be Irish will be removed from the tournament and their entire participation voided Exceptions may be made for non-Irish players who are currently resident in Ireland at my complete discretion
- Players must have posting rights to enter
- Reliable players only!!! Players found during the competition to be of questionable reliability may be removed
- All ties in all rounds up to and including the semi-finals are one game only (no decision has been made yet regarding the final)
- Players who deactivate might not be automatically allowed back in
- Players who get themselves banned are disqualified
The draw will happen on an external chat site, one that'll let me do it all randomly, and I'll post the link at some point on Sunday or Monday so you all can see it live or see the result.

And a few baby rules, just to keep things held together and in case things get wild:
- The draw may be manipulated in later rounds to ensure an even spread of byes in case of disqualifications
- The draw may be manipulated to keep potentially unreliable players apart

On a side note... One of two of you have wondered about not being able this on account of not being from Ireland. I have a suggestion: why not someone create an English/Scottish/British Cup, and have the winner of that play the winner of this in a sort of unofficial World Championship or something? I'd like to see it Who wants to set it up?

I think I've decided who the players are who will be segregated for "reliability" - I put it in inverted commas because I don't mean it as a personal indicator of anyone; I'm simply basing it on number of forum posts and one or two other factors, ability not being one of them. By the way, I did this too in a previous tournament, and I was proved right! One guy I installed into Round 1 never logged in after joining and was subsequently disqualified.
The draw for Round 1 will take place after the next Random Multi-Discipline tourney is finished. If it does not, it's because something has come up, and it will happen at the next available opportunity. I can't guarantee any late entries will allowed after that.
Speaking of weeks, each round has 1 week to be completed after the draw is done. Extensions may be granted at my total discretion, but don't count on it.
