The defaults are justified if ppl dont sub in time thats there issues, but defaults are fair.

Cant help these things sometimes.

Look at my clan we had a 14-1 default against me cause my player quit.

sorry but stop your whinging our players tried to get their games done, hence why we got the defaults....how is that hard to comprehend.

no-one is arguing about the defaults you had - I am arguing about the size of the results which i am quite entitled to do - especially when I was told when I asked about your clans remaining fixtures I was told "cba - they dont give a -Word removed- anymore"......sounds like you done all you could to get these fixtures played!

Just been reading the last few posts.

Its a tough one re default points as if a team is genuinely trying to play their games and cant because of the other team it would be unfair if they get penalised, however...

how many points have the fellowship had this season through defaults...prob not that many..

It would therefore be grossly unfair if we lost out on promotion as a result of another team getting loads of default points without hardly playing any games esp if their winning percentage on games actually played is average at 50%.

If this is indeed the case it makes the whole league system pointless and a complete waste of time and I would have to question whether to continue with this league and pool site.

There is the other possibility, however unlikely, that a clan who have no chance to progress basically give up and donate points via default in order for them to be promoted with players perhaps mysteriously jumping to the promoted team....or am i being too untrusting...either way this needs to be resolved as it looks though the Fellowship are going to get an unfait bad beat this season.

To answer your question mate - we have received 0 points from default as we have played all our matches.......

Matches that looked as if they werent going to be played, I liased with the other captains to arrange subs to finish them off......

I actually cost us points allowing the_rookie result to stand.....

But I am fair and want to see the league working.....

Most sports do something like half points if things aren't fully completed and i think that this would be good for leagues like this

If you dont get the game played why should you be able to get the same amount of points. This is just biased against any team who gets all their games played because there is no incentive to get games played other than a show of good sportsmanship

To me that can attract players to play for a default which is the opposite of what it should be

To throw that back at you mate - how would you feel if you were lined up to play me and I made no effort to respond to your messages or posts, and didnt speak to you in PM. How many points would you hope to score, bearing in mind by playing me you could possibly have scored 15?

Would you settle for 8 points (half points) in those circumstances? If your team lost the overall match by a point or two due to that what would be your feelings then on the matter?

yes get the default points aslong as they are awarded fairly i cant see how 14-1 and 15-0 results are fair and if a clan wins the match because of so many defaults i dont think they should get the 20 bonus points as that is very unfair

Because simply you are being denied the chance to win the game 14-1 or 15-0 through your own play - yes those scores are extreme but you are still being denied the opportunity to try for it.

Same with the 20 points.

You cannot make a 'pools panel' result based on expected scores because why would good players ever bother playing?

I think this stat speaks for itself.

Fellowship have not needed any points to be determined by a default as we have played all our games.

Thats not to say its all been plain sailing but we have a captain thats on the ball and keeps tabs on opponents and fixtures and makes decisions early if there is a risk of a no show etc.

Like I said Im not having a go at blackout at all but even they would concede that if they get promoted ahead of fellowship due to the default points it would be grossy unfair.

Whether this happens or not it needs to be looked at for next season.

Possible solutions are bigger teams which allows more room for subs if a fixture looks dodgy.

Or players are allowed to play two matches in same week or

top two teams have a play off to decide promo or

reduce default wins so that there is no 15 0 etc and no bonus points unless team was ahead not taking default win into account or

awarding 3 pts for a win with bonus points kept and using frame scores in event of tie

from reading cool's post you do raise us a valid point which probably will have to be looked at.

But Merv even though your team have got all their games done, how do you know that others players (not just us have) who have got the default have been trying with all power to get the game done, if they could they would play the game!

I think thats a very fair point. It takes both teams to want to play to get fixtures played however it does help if one or more captains are on the ball and can see ahead that there is a likely non match. That allows subs to be used.this isnt always the case with all clans as there is often a late last minute panic.

I would also say that simply sending 3 or 4 quick messages to an opponent isnt that big an effort. Whilst we have no other way of trying to arrange a fixture it still seems hugely unfair if that allows a team to get promotion ahead of a team that plays all its matches.

I do think perhaps its time to look at 3 pts for a win, keep the bonus and only use frame scores if points are tied.

Also if a team does get default points then whilst frames would count you would determine whether a team gets bonus points based on the score of that serious of matches actually played.

This means that if a team had played 6 matches and were ahead they would get bonus points no matter who gets frames on default games.

This seems fair to me.

Default should be limited to either a 1 2 or 3 game split depending on rankings of players due to play.

This stops a team racking up the frames on default whilst the team still gets the 3 points for a win.

nothing is bein said about the warney default issue were he lost 14-1?

players that arebt on for 2 weeks dont deserve a frame never mind 5 frames... as for other flumps match, he was 5-1 up and got a scoreline of 10-5surely you cant complain about that

but this disadvantages players who put the same if not more effort into playing games and end up with a lot less to show because their game was played and they lost
