I think there's no question it was Schumacher driving the Ferarri FXX, and that would have been a large part of why he was there (ferrari won't let just anyone take a car like that on a hot lap)

Indeed, thats more than likely why The Stig character exists. Many manufacturers place limits on who can drive their top cars on hot laps, and having a stig outfit prevents having to explain who the various drivers are, and why they are there.

An absolutely amazing idea by Top Gear to have Schumacher as the stig! He was the last person i expected to be under the helmet!
