I agree and disagree with that statement.
Yes it may be pointless in your eyes but in order for people to be arguing over it, there must be some point to it
Also, they're not really arguments, they are... heated debates -- You don't find people flaming each other for their views, they just try and "persuade" the opponent to come over to their side.
So, what about the ones started by someone saying something that provokes a reply, the two people (and usually a few more) start trying to insult each other, and it ends up with people being booted for being idiots?
Most of the debates in my opinion aren't debates, more like flame matches

The other type being a long pointless argument over something very pointless.

I very rarely come across these.
The ones I do encounter are just bullying matches. They have no purpose other than to insult the (often) lone victim.
However, the more sympathetic people in the room are quick to report these incidents and try and calm them down.
As I said, these are rare occurences for me, and debates normally are just debates!

there are often debates and just friendly banter, today i went into the chatroom (after seeing this thread) to see if i could create a conversation out of nowhere and get people involved. within 5 minutes i had 6 differnet people talking pure rubbish but it was funny and entertaining.
the friendly people still exist they are just more diluted because of the sheer number of people, i do believe there is around 48000 registered players on here currently.
