Hey all... It's time for the third Irish Cup, and this time it's US 8 ball. The first Irish Cup was for UK 8 ball, and it can be found at http://www.funkypool.com/viewTopic.do?topicid=12095&page=1 and was won by smithbit. The second Irish Cup was for 9 ball, and it can be found at http://www.funkypool.com/viewTopic.do?topicid=13766&page=1 and was also won by smithbit. So, rules, with the more important ones in bold:
- US 8 ball
- All players must be Irish
- Open draw knockout
- The draw may be manipulated in later rounds to ensure an even spread of byes in the case of disqualifications
- The draw may be manipulated to keep potentially unreliable players apart
- Games are first to 3; the semis are first to 4 and the final is first to 5
- Players may be readmitted into the tournament under conditions described at http://www.funkypool.com/viewTopic.do?topicid=12600&page=1
- Reliable players only!!!
- Players must post here themselves to enter; if they haven't got posting rights for whatever reason, tough
- Players who deactivate or get banned might not be automatically allowed back in
- Rules may change in extreme circumstances
This is the third of the Irish Cup competitions, so let's if smithbit can make it a hat-trick! Invitations to the top Irish players may be made soon.
If the rules seem a bit daunting, some of them are only there to cover technicalities.

If there's no more takers by tonight, I can proceed to make the draw.

Like one of the rules says, the draw may be manipulated to keep potentially unreliable players apart. Otherwise, is there anyone who would prefer not to receive a bye in round 1? I ask because, at the moment, there's 6 players gonna get byes.

If no-one specifically requests this then they'll run the risk of a round 1 tie as usual; however, I haven't decided whether this is how I want to proceed.
