*Holds her hand up*

Im a swearer BUT..i dont offend anyone (or mean to)..and i only swear in game rooms with ppl i know.

All swear words are offensive at the end of the day, but if they are said in a jokey way lighthearted way, then it shoud be fine IMO

(oh god plz dont anyone ask me how or why am sure yano what i mean)

Fair points SM

I was basically just singling out the rare times it does happen, say when someone gets a little lucky and pots a fluke or gets a fortunate snooker and the opponent flips out a little.

If the people you are talking to don't find it offensive, I don't really see a problem with it as they'll know you only mean it in a non-offensive / jokey way.

Tournaments can still produce offensive behaviour though, especially as it gets nearer the final and 'starts to matter.'

Not in my experiences. The folk who play tournaments are the patient ones as tournaments can last for 2-3 hours. I've never come across an aggressive finalist.

Sure, you get the hostile ones, but the worst thing (in my opinion) is that some people say nothing!! I dont mind what we chat about as long as we chat!

Also, tournaments are easier to win than a high ranking. And because there are no points involved, I find that tournaments matter less than if two high rankers were fighting in a ranked match.

In tournaments you also get groups of supporters as well (you know who you are!) which just adds to the great atmosphere.

In finals (which I tend to always lose), once I've lost I do tend to get annoyed. I can understand some people's frustration at that time, though if they go mad at the opponent, that's when they've crossed it. As much as I've wanted to just let it out after losing another final, I've never abused the opponent. I've said "Good Games, Well Done", even through gritted teeth (even though it's on the Internet).

As for your second part, it's a certain group of supporters that have kept me in line, and helped me keep my cool. I love you Nutters!

An interesting topic, I have used "send a complaint" recently but now it doesn't appear in "your support threads" I have to wonder why?

Is it just my account or do we just accept swearing as "the norm"

I know full well that I am a bit prudish, but I have only used it for foul langauge or racist remarks. If it doesn't appear on your support threads you don't even know if it has been processed

No, it doesn't appear in your support threads (it hasn't ever) but we manually process every complaint. No feedback is given to the complainant and this is deliberate.

However if you send a complaint of which someone has been using racist slurs you can watch the user's profile to see if they get banned.

Please don't post false information like this, or you could have your posting revoked.

As already stated, report any offensive behaviour, and it will be dealt with. In the short term you can use the ignore feature to mute the offending player so you can enjoy the games in peace.

Edit - Also do remember that you can't "reactively" swear in an online game. Yes, something might not go your way, but swearing in the game means you have to think about it, type it in, then decide to send the message.

You can't let people off thinking "maybe they didnt mean it"

Would you wait until you ate 4 rotten sausages to complain?

The rules of the site are clear, everyone has verified they have read and understood them by signing up for an account, so there are no excuses.

Swearers: Basically, if someone swears in the game and then action is taken or whatever, they can't say they weren't warned. They can feel peeved if the action taken is not proportional to the amount of swearing and its content... of course the rules to not account for this.

Complainants: A lot of people swear during games, people need to vent their frustrations somehow and unfortunately they articulate this in the game window for you and everyone else to see. It happens a lot, so if you complain about every instance of swearing that you see, you'll make the moderators verrrrry very busy, possible even above and beyond what is necessary. It if gets serious, however, (for example, if it's dìrected at you or if you've warned them that minors are watching) feel free to shop the so-and-so.

This should only be used for the most serious offences, do NOT send for name calling, a user irritating you, a provoked response, or every single swear word. Remember you can also use the ignore user feature.

Sorry, yes, of course certain things can mean more to one member than another, due to many factors.

However, overall, if you feel offended or in any way disturbed by any users actions, please do use the report system.

Funkypool members are not idiots, they can decide for themselves whether they prefer to ignore someone (be it by using the feature or *actually* ignoring them), or if they feel the user in question needs reported/may upset other users (who may well be children) etc, they can use the report system.

At the end of the day, it's a case of everyone working together to make the site a fun, sporting, and pleasant place to play pool online.

Correct Nick, my mistake sorry. It's when you use "contact us" it goes to support threads.

I understand fully the reasons for no feedback, but it is good to hear every complaint is dealt with as sometimes one can feel as if one is not being listened to.

Edit to make apology even more grovely

offensive language like swearing does not bother me,its more offensive to me when people come into my room and calling names and trying to put me off.i have never been nasty to anyone on this site and i didnt create the ranking system and i have never claimed to be that good, iam slowly slipping down the ranks ,i will maybe get less stick then.the real quality on here is lordpool,smithbit,onua,bastilla,city,horse,allornothing,ex-champ,sapphire,abs,walker.thxs all.

Offensive language doesn't have to be swearing remember.

You should report any name-calling etc, as this can be most offensive or distrssing of all.
