Sorry if in wrong thread.
Just of late I have had a lot of players swearing during a game and quite often at there opponant for no appaernt reason. I know we all get fed up if we miss a pot or lose but to use offensive behaviour towards your opponant is darn right out of order and rude.
I know you can use the complaint button but just recently it seems that people are getting away with it.
I can understand a warning first especially to new members but for members that have been on here for a while or even years they should know better and it is would be very off putting to the younger genertion and many may get upset over it.
I know you will never stop it from happening but if there was a crack down on it people would soon learn that if they do it they will be booted or even worse banned.
Rant over

As you mentioned the send complaint feature is available, and should always be used if you feel that another member is being offensive.
Nobody 'gets away with it' unless a complaint is not sent. If you do send a complaint that member is dealt with accordingly, no matter how long they've been a member, everyone is treated equal.
Like I said, it's dealt with accordingly, so I don't see how you can crack down on it.

It has to be said though, there are a lot of repeat offenders who have maybe been given a second chance too many.

Maybe those repeat offenders have never had a complaint against them? They get dealt with, and whatever they recieve, a warning, booting, banning etc..... It matches the crime.

Yeah, that probably is the reason why.
Bad Language doesn't really offend me as such, I just find it a tad unnecessary.

if it offends you or not it still should not happen, i suggest to anyone that has players constantly swearing during games to send complaint to admin, there is NO need for it

Oh don't get me wrong I am totally against the bad language and in the case of it being used against me I would more than likely send a complaint.
I was just saying it wouldn't keep me awake at night if someone were to do it.

But what gets me is why do people put it down in type if they don't want to offend anyone??
Why not shout at the screen for a bit and not type anything?? People are a lot happier that way...

yeah...I see what you mean and all, but when you go to send a complaint, it says "please do not use this form to report every swear word" (or something along those lines).
It is appalling, yes. But at the end of the day, its that person who looks like an idiot, not you, not the 8 ball that 'should have gone in'. Its them because they missed the shot and its them that dont have the guts to say good game; they just have a swear or two and leave.

Just to be clear i assume you mean offensive behaviour as opposed to offensive language? Heated debates should be allowed to happen, but when it goes across to offensive behaviour then it crosses a line.
I personally love it when someone goes off the handle at me, it's like a sick twisted satisfaction i guess. But when i see it towards other people i hate it!

A lot of people will go **** or **** or even **** () when things go wrong, but swearing at someone is a different thing completely, I'd hate to think that people are pressing the Complaint button at every hint of player self-dissatisfaction. but when someone attacks someone else, that's when the line is crossed.
EDIT: comma instead of full stop
God I hate that Edited at blah blah blah that appears when you make a simple spelling or grammar clean-up...

Nail on the head there. When it is towards someone is when I feel it becomes offensive behaviour. We can all put up with the odd word in general.

How are you ever gonna make sure you don't play a bad person?
I gave up ranked play for this reason. When you play people right near the top, points start to matter more and I got a hellova lot of swear words thrown this way. It seemed like everyone decided to be against me when I cleared up...
I'm happy playing friendly games with my fellow guests and sticking to tournaments (which I soooo much prefer to ranked anyway)

Same here
I often go through a phase where I play ranked to try and reach my maximum again - usually only in 9ball though.
Tournaments can still produce offensive behaviour though, especially as it gets nearer the final and 'starts to matter.'

Not in my experiences. The folk who play tournaments are the patient ones as tournaments can last for 2-3 hours. I've never come across an aggressive finalist.
Sure, you get the hostile ones, but the worst thing (in my opinion) is that some people say nothing!! I dont mind what we chat about as long as we chat!
Also, tournaments are easier to win than a high ranking. And because there are no points involved, I find that tournaments matter less than if two high rankers were fighting in a ranked match.
In tournaments you also get groups of supporters as well (you know who you are!) which just adds to the great atmosphere.
