It is clear that any user should only have 1 account, but what joodles is trying to say is that how do we know that someone has a second account if they don't do anything out of the ordinary or to attract attention?

So what's to stop me signing up with another name and just alternating between the two accounts?

Hey Sam, I think that is might be okay to have two accounts only if there is no cheating between accounts.

Nope Tatty Rat..what Joodles and Chris are trying to say it that there ARE ppl still using mutiple accounts (I think!!)and was merely asking if its one rule for one and one for another..(I think again) LOL Dunno i could be wrong

Edited to add to post:

We all know theres loads of people with multiple accounts (I'm one of them...but have never abused the fact by cheating or w/e)and i for one dont see the prob as long as they are not used to abuse the game or fellow members

There ARE people who use second accounts thinker, but the point I'm trying to put across is how do we know these are second accounts, and how do we stop em being set up?

Also, the same set of rules SHOULD apply to anyone wether it be their only account or their 9th.

And Kaza, if the best player had multiple accounts, he could just get each and every one of them to the Top 10. It's not cheating if he doesn't play these accounts against each other...

*Rolls eyes at er*

I'm getting wound up over nothing...

But how would the admin know when to act if the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th accounts haven't broken the rules?

If someone has a second account which doesn't attract attention we wont know about it so we wont take any action.

We're certainly not going to go out our way to give ourselves extra work to try and detect who's using multiple accounts. There's better things we can do with our time.

However if they crop up on the radar by multi-using / cheating etc, we instantly ban any other accounts.

I really don't see why this is confusing.

Thanks Nick - that is the very CLEAR answer I was hoping for. I completely understand about dual accounts not being routinely checked for but thats where you have to have an element of self-policing. But to have self-policing people have to know exactly what the rules are in the first place. I think you have seen from the replies here that people dont believe this rule does actually exist.

I hope and expect now that it is CLEAR that there WILL BE a number of deactivations of these second accounts by people, no matter who they are. I won't hold my breath though - there are those who believe they are above rules.

Presumably you would welcome information about multi-users if they dont deactivate of their own accord after this?

the problem is i have other people in my family home who play this game,we all have the same ip address.it would be unfair for my brother to just play on my account.

it sank in creamy ages ago infact ~ but when the rules says you can't have multiple accounts but it wont be checked up on unless you are abusing it tells it's not a clear yes or no to the question , things should be made simple for the simple ones x x

If they are causing some sort of problem, yes, but we're not going to actively pursue this. For one thing, it's difficult to be sure whether the account is actually owned by the same person and not a family member, and incorrectly banning someone is much worse than taking no action on a second account. Again, our time is used better elsewhere.

In real life terms you can consider it like littering. Yes, it's against the rules but it's not worth investigating each bit of rubbish.

I know where you are coming from Nick but when the 'rubbish' affects the integrity of someone's ranking score and consequently the tables maybe it needs looking at!!

Also I would of thought that people in certain positions ought to be complying with all the rules too!!

But hey nevermind lets leave it to people's consciences and hope that they might have the moral fortitude to make the right decisions regarding the status of their extra accounts.

Thanks Nick

nm, a bit clearer after reading all of Nick's posts in this thread.

I've been confused on this one myself and had several long discussions with admins, trying to learn a consistent, predicable policy to use, but with little success.

I guess the bottom line here is as Nick says - yes it's not allowed, but not worth actively enforcing either, unless triggered a problem of one sort or another.

question for you then jan - does a player playing ranked games on two different accounts trigger a problem? It certainly means that neither score attained is genuine - even more so when the person is near the top of the tables
