The rules state that 'Each user should have no more than ONE account'. Is this or is this not a rule?
The fact is that there are a number of users, including staff members and players at or near the top of tables, that actively have two or more accounts. There are any number of reasons why players might wish to have more than one account - anonymity at times, to take part in win/loss percentage challenges, races to a certain number of wins etc. As I see it that does not cause undue problems however I think that as soon as you start playing ranked games on two or more names then that's a different matter. Every ranked game played on a secondary account whether you win or lose distorts your true score on whatever you consider to be your main account. As such I would have thought anyone identified as having played ranked games on two or more live accounts should be immediately reset.
I would be interested to hear the official view on this. It seems multiple using for posting is understandably enforced keenly but I would have thought multi-using for ranked games is just as bad if indeed not worse. Its unfair to your opponents and to everyone else. It is really no different to cheating even if the player doing it does not think they are doing anything wrong in their own mind.
Personally it doesn't particularly matter to me either way as I place no value on the so called ranking tables for a number of reasons but I know from past discussions that there are those that do.

It seems to me that if you want to place any integrity at all in them then this ought to be dealt with. If multiple accounts are to be tolerated then they should only be used for friendly games or tournaments - and nothing else!!
(Please don't bring resetting or deactivating to recreate a new account into this as they should be separate arguments.)

The official view is exactly that stated in the rules, which are enforced as stated :

Edit - please remember not to pick out little bits of the multiple account policy whe discussing it, as this has distorted many discussions in the past.

I for one have only ever had 1 account and find no need to have a multiple account.
It would be intersting to see, as quopted "The fact is that there are a number of users, including staff members and players at or near the top of tables, that actively have two or more accounts."
As you have mentioned chris, you achieve nothing by having a multiple account, attaining a higher rank. As spinner mentioned, within the guidelines, leads to banning of higher account.

The rules are correct in that no one should have more than one account.
But as chris states there are several players that have openly got more than one account and nothing gets done about it.
I understand that this must be difficult to police to find the culprits but there must be some way that it can be done to stop this happening.

I think i know more people with more than one account than someone with just one lol
impossible to police it like that anyway seeing as there are in a lot of cases more than one person per household with different accounts.

I have only ever had one account... My family used to play this game on the same computer in the days of 1 computer per household
I like to see all my achievements together in one place, Coming up to 2 yrs of work lmao! I want everyone to see it in its glory!!
I dont mind multi-accounting as it's just a way of spicing up someone's time on this game

Not the usual well reasoned post you normally come up with. My point was a quite specific one without it being user specific. Is playing ranked games on more than one account breaking the rules? The fact that the ONE was in capitals seemed to be the overriding part of that paragraph - forgive me if thats wrong.

There is no point saying who they are as A) it would be construed as 'naming and shaming' even if it wasnt B) its not necessary for the point under discussion and C) those people know who they are anyway.
The fact remains playing ranked under two names affects either positively or negatively your true score.

Not as difficult as people seem to think. The starting point for any policing in anything though has to be the laying down of clear regulations so people know what is and isnt right.
I dont mind multi-accounting as it's just a way of spicing up someone's time on this game
Me neither particularly unless there comes a point when people are trying to celebrate achievements which are not necessarily all they seem at first sight
The fact remains that it either is or isnt allowed and i dont see the harm in it being made clear either way.

I will say this (and if im not ment to, then a mod will wipe this), but I have two accounts.
Many people ask me to be banned blah, blah. But I have this account for forum use, and my other account strictly as game use.
There is a very good reason for that, that I will not go into here. But I will say that there were problems with this account that made me create another account to dodge certain people.
now many people know that I use this one strictly for Forum, and the other one strictly for game play. I even say that on my profile.
Should everyone be allowed to do it - I dont think so. Like I said, admin let me do this becasue of very special circumstances
Do I like it - no, becasue im always logging in and logging out to switch between playing and on the forum. But its too late to go back to one account now in my opinion.

The posting limit was increased to 200 per day so that multiple using for posts were no longer allowed.
(See the way i know about posting only )
I personally cant comment on the rest coz am not a lover of the game/rank/tournys

anyway back to the point of the thread
Is it ok to have more than one account and for each to play ranked games (obviously as long as they aren't against each other )? Or does that count as breaking a funkypool rule?

Each user should have no more than ONE account. Any user that has more than one username, could have their secondary or higher usernames banned without warning. Ordinarily we will not check for multiple accounts but when any funkypool rule is broken, we may take action against all accounts.
Posting under multiple accounts on the forum will lead to any secondary or higher usernames being banned.
-----------
I'm not sure how it could be any clearer.
