I've noticed that there are a lot of banned and deactivated users while looking through these threads.
I hear stories that people get banned because they beat a mod and they ban them out of spite. Don't believe these tales but was just wondering what you guys know about it?

Now if a mod/admin did that then THEY would be banned quicker than you can say funkypool. Mods and admins go through rigorous trials to find the most worthy people to look after the site. They are mods for a reason. People make up those stories as they do not LIKE people in power just because they ARE in power. (It's true.) If these stories ARE (in any way) true it is because the player in question has provoked the mod/admin after they have won.

As for getting deactivated, that is a personal choice. There is a deactivation button under "edit profile" but after pressing that, it is permanent.

People can get banned for all sorts of reasons, read the rules to find out what you can get banned for. Bullying, cheating, harassment, multi-accounting, account sharing... The list goes on.

However, there is a difference between a ban and a boot. You don't have to become banned after being booted. Booting is a temporary ban for things like swearing in the chat room. If a person complains about you, you will be booted before mods/admins decide if they should persue the case further.

Hope that helps! (If only a little )

That pretty much covers it! More info in the help section here : http://www.funkypool.com/help.do

And to re-enforce what the others have said - moderators and admin have been banned in the past - the terms and rules are the same for everyone.

edit to carrect speeloing

If you get a number of ''boots'' It leads to a ban apperently.

Yep. The most (im)famous banning of a moderator was:

**Name removed**

He was a legendary pool player who dominated the tables in pretty much everything. I'm pretty sure he got an IP ban as his second account is banned aswell...

Other mods have been stripped of their position but I have no idea why. They probably just failed their trials:

**Names removed**

Notice how they've all deactivated?

I have no recollection of an admin being banned though.

So rules still do apply to mods!

Yeah Admin make their own rules, they just sit there like political gods dictating what we done and when we do it.

The random beatings are getting a bit much........

I can name an shame myself I think I've been a mod twice now, first time I was demoted was due to me being logged in on a certain someone else's ip (an (im)famous player from what I could gather, but still people have refused to tell me) so basically for the security of the site I had to be a member.

Applied again, an got accepted cuz they thought I was awesome Then realised I wasn't playing enough anymore and kicked up a bit of a fuss when something on the site was changed, so quit.

Some other mods have been demoted for the same kinda reasons as me, whereas others were banned for all sorts worse

Hope that sheds some light on the matter for you

Woops, sorry bout that guys

But then again, this can be used as an example of how well the moderators do their work! I break the rules, and the mods deal with it.

However, I didn't break a serious rule which is why I haven't been banned. But mis-use the forums several time and you WILL be banned! (I better watch out lol)

Oh yeah, as a side note, can any mod/admin tell me whether there is a "warning" system on this website?
So if you get booted you get a warning of 10% and when you get to 100% you get banned?

You did nothing at all to worry about, but best to remove the names on issues like that.

There's no set or percentage-based warning system, but warnings are often issued when a user is behaving poorly. We don't want to ban people, so if we feel someone's behaviour could improve if spoken to about it, we will take the warning route first.

However, when dealing with offences such as racism or extremely offensive/disturbing behaviour, our chief concern is to keep the perpetrator away from the decent majority of users - so we don't take chances.

Brilliant answers there, sm_rat, it must have taken a while to write it, and it's readable too, well done. One of the better thread on the entire site; thanks to _andyh87_ for bringing it up.

Banned mods and admins... damn I wanna find out who!

Why thanks cloone! I take pride in my writing. It annoys me to see unstructured and messy posts with no grammar. It's just a personal trait

As for names... If I tell you, I'd have to kill you.

Thanks guys for all your answers, appreciate it. That's shed some light on the issue, and far more entertaining than analysing the rules and regs

I would like to be picky and ask whether this is true does your internet provider really get the information or school or college?

No. Spinner and Pool_life can read minds. They're like the Matrix - only better................ be warned.

Or might find your mother or dog morphing into a viking or whatever pool_life is. Some say he's not actually human and that he is Funkypool. Imagine that. Funkypool coming to life and banning you.

Not entirely sure what you mean there, but if you mean do ISP's get contacted about the actions of seriously bad offenders, then yes it can happen.

Section 6 of the site's terms of service covers this quite well.
