to hold a 2 minute silence.....listen to the radio nearer the time or watch TV if you can and please try to remember those that gave there lives in the bloodiest 4 years of the modern era called world war one
Dont forget the muslim troops that fought along side us too
The first stroke of eleven produced a magical effect.
The tram cars glided into stillness, motors ceased to cough and fume, and stopped dead, and the mighty-limbed dray horses hunched back upon their loads and stopped also, seeming to do it of their own volition.
Someone took off his hat, and with a nervous hesitancy the rest of the men bowed their heads also. Here and there an old soldier could be detected slipping unconsciously into the posture of 'attention'. An elderly woman, not far away, wiped her eyes, and the man beside her looked white and stern. Everyone stood very still ... The hush deepened. It had spread over the whole city and become so pronounced as to impress one with a sense of audibility. It was a silence which was almost pain ... And the spirit of memory brooded over it all.

My borther is in the army, so is my best friend.
Both have lost those very close to them on tours and although I don't fully understand I see the pain, I feel a little.
Heroes who have formed the world we live in today should be rewarded with our respect!
Bless them all - I'm forever thankful.

Our school we were all gathered in the quad and watched as our school flag was raised at 11pm. We had fanfares and a 2 minute silence.
Our school is great like that

Great thread Tids.
Well done all respected the fallen, and the brave still fighting now, may they be continued to be remembered in our hearts.
John McCrae said:
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep,
though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

Wow i was about to make a thread exactly like this one.
We shall remember them. Here's a fact: In WWI, Canada's dead numbered 60,689. This was more than the United States - a country with ten times as many people.
Me and my family watched it on TV. I broke into tears, i'm serious (DO NOT call me a drama queen lol).
Lest we forget........

I think the day should be a national holiday and people should go to all sorts of parades and celebrate our heroes!
