Big Phil Scolari sacked as Chelsea manager... I'm sure it will help their season big time!

Chelsea once again showing why they're a joke!
At least clubs like Man Utd and Liverpool have kept hold of their managers for a while, even when they've had poor runs. I was a little miffed with Liverpool when they sacked Houlier, but this move from Chelsea is just ridiculous.
I'm sure there will be plenty of people willing to take over - especially with the compensation they pay!!

I'm gutted Scolari is gone, I loved watching his interviews where half the things he said didn't make sense
Shame for Adams as well, but it was a move Pompey had to make methinks.

As a Villa fan i'm now worried, we looked like we could finish 3rd! Now 4th is more likely
I'd have taken that at the start of the season though

Why 4th? Chelsea are in turmoil, Arsenal are a spent force, at least for this season. With O'Neill at the helm I think ye have a great chance of finishing at least 3rd, possibly 2nd with Liverpool just scraping by with some close (I dare not say lucky) wins over Chelsea and Portsmouth. No?

I'd love to see Villa finish up there. It's so good when a team breaks through the dominant forces of the top league. I remember when Hearts managed to break apart Celtic and Rangers a few years ago, so many of us non-Old Firm fans wanted them to win the league. Dominant teams have turned leagues into things that are too predictable and uncompetitive now, so I wish Villa the best of luck and at the end of the season I hope to be celebrating a top 4 finish
Good Luck Aston Villa!

Just as long as we are not a few points ahead of Arsenal on the last game of the season and we have a London chef before the last game, we should get top 4
But come 4th April, that is the date that we should know where Villa are at, Chelsea next, have Liverpool away and Manchester United away, never know, after that, could be challenging for the title
One can only dream

Just thought I'd post this here:

This is why incidents like these occur once in a blue moon in Rugby. Maybe it's time Football followed suit?!

Don't think so, refs already flash cards for next to nothing, don't need another excuse for them to continue on their power trips and slow down the game even more. Unlike rugby, soccer is a sport of the people, the common man, we can handle a bit of bad language in the heat of the moment.

It goes beyond bad language though, doesn't it? I just don't agree with match officals being abused by a bunch of over-paid (can't even manage 90 minutes without getting cramp) footballers. I think if anything needs booking, it's poor behaviour towards match officals.
Although the difference is a rugby player hitting a ref might cause damage, a football.......

Well, the soccer players and their families could cetainly do with the money more than your average rugby player with their privileged backgrounds.
On the whole, I don't think disciplinary problems are a major issue in soccer. Possibly there could be more consistency in what exactly merits a red card, or a yellow. But the main problem is the outdated way in which the games are officiated. They need to employ new technology to decide contentious issues like offsides or whether a ball has crossed the goal line. That's one area where they could definately learn from rugby i'll admit.

Bit of a harsh sterotype isn't it? I'm from a single parent family of 5, I played wing, outside centre and full back at times - until I was injured!
Most of my team mates were from the same background.
I think your the first person who I've seen say something like they deserve the ridiculous money they're on!
If you look at half of the Leicester team, they're from less than privileged backgrounds.......

I meant they're more deserving than rugby players. And yes, I do think that the majority of successful rugby players come from wealthy backgrounds, certainly here in Ireland anyway.
And, to refute your point about the Leicester team, I 'wikipediad' the squad and virtually every English player went to public school. Hardly the education most "less than privileged" people receive?

I didn't realise that made them less deserving..... funny little ethic you've got going there!
If you wish to squander your money on a bunch of over-priced whinge bags that's your vice! I prefer a sport with more of an impact!

Prefer what you like, but this is the premier league thread bud! Seriously though, I am actually a rugby fan too, despite my whinging. I just prefer soccer.
You're possibly twisting my words a bit too (or rather I just haven't made my point very clearly). What i'm trying to say is i'd rather see soccer players from poorer backgrounds make big bucks as opposed to rugby players with their hereditary wealth. Maybe i've just been watching Slumdog Millionaire too many times

(You should visit the rugby thread, you'd love how us mods fight (debate) over there!!)
