I was looking at the other thread for speed clear up and came up with an idea for another 'clear up' type game.
You would start at level one and the idea is to clear the table with one run. The balls would be in preset positions, so not necessarily 15 balls. This way everybody is attempting the same ball patterns.
If you clear and pot the black you advance to level two. Miss a ball and it's back to level one!
The clear would become more difficult as the levels progressed, perhaps adding more balls in barrier formations etc. We could have somewhere around 100 levels, so there could even be room on the later stages where you can't touch the other colour ball...or the cushions!
This would be a 20 second time limit on each shot and your highest level is saved on profile.
Thoughts?

I think it would be a great addition.
How would the tables work if it gets reset as soon as you miss? Would it be a daily table like snookers max break today? And Highest level made, ever?
If so it can be brought in as an addition to the UK and US game types (Just like max break on snooker) rather than a new game type.
It could also slot into the bottom of the US and UK slot on your profile. E.G. Under tournament wins it says 'Max level of clearence'.
It would be great fun and presents a stiff challenge so I'm all for it whatever way it gets brought in, if it is decided to be brought in.

great idea! you are thinking it as a one player game right??
that would be great if you had nothing else to do and no one wants to play you - hard core practice!

Yes, it would be a single player game. The kudos is having the level reached stated on your profile and the main leader board.
With only having the one life you would expect the game to be around a good while until people started to master each level, but mastering a level is no certainty if you happen to add a little bit too much power here and there on your shots!
I would expect it involves a fair bit of effort to create something like this. This could be minimized to an extent if we had user submitted (Using image shack) ball patterns in the building stages and picked the more interesting ones to add to the finished product.

sounds good, if another single player game is desirable in the first place. Sounds a lot less pointless than I find minigolf anyway.

nice idea but wouldnt it make it more intresting if it was head to head? for example both players take it in turns to get to the best level they can before their opponent trying to better it.

The only problem I see with that is what if your opponent is good, and reaches a really high level, you'd be sitting there waiting for ages for your turn.

Well, no, because in normal pool, his or her turn could only possibly last one frame before you would have a turn again.
With this level system it would be different.
Example; Your opponent starts and reaches level six (clearing the table six times.) You would have had to wait six frames before your go would come around.
And if they were to reach a higher level, it would take even longer.

That would solve the problem.
But if the levels were specifically set out. (With the balls in certain places depending on the levels.) As mentioned earlier.
The clear would become more difficult as the levels progressed, perhaps adding more balls in barrier formations etc.
The person who was playing second, could watch what the person playing first was doing, and simply attempt to copy their tactics at clearing.
EDIT: I forgot to mention - I actually like the idea

No, I think that to start with (if it was to come in), have it one player.
I think insted of the practice table, the defult setting should be for (*thinks of name*)...(cant think of another one) that game.
Of course, you should also have the option to switch back to the normal practice table.
