Im a newish member since June so i really cant compare then to now

Makes me laugh when I see threads about how great the oldschool were. I used to play poolsharks and then funky, and I was good on that and I could beat the top players on my best form. I couldnt beat them now, itd have to be bloody good form, believe me.

Ive been away about 20 months and started playing again, and these people now are ten times more skillful than I was, or most of the big guns back then. The new games have loads of new factors like side spin and tactics more than snooker & pot.

The whole skill level through the whole game is higher. An average 750 player now is the level of 2nd or 3rd place back then, and probably better.

Squeezy was great yeah, but not many others were. Theres no comparison

yeah ok i still feel likes of lars, phase, squirt. are still in my books top UK players...

But that was back then. Nows Now. and thats what we got to look at. there no longer top players on there own, there apart of top players including the new guys.

So cause you say there's no competition, it means it's true? See I feel there is a huge amount of competition in game now. Suppose it is all a matter of opinion.

The members never eally change thing is more pointed to behaviour, not play wise........

Well, here's a case in point. I was often in the top 5 places on poolsharks, and Im about at the 750 standard on here.

Top players in the past looked good cos they were playing an easier game against a lot lower standard.

I like bleu, an old player with enough brain cells to recognise that just like anything else that requires talent, new people come along who have it and old skool people lose it. Shame not all your old friends are so intelligent

I prefer, where will Funkypool go. As it takes little steps and huge strides it changes, always for the better IMO.

In my opinion, the skill level at UK 8 ball, isn't as high as it was around 3 years ago. Not saying I could beat the top guys now, had a few games earlier and i'm shocking

But when you've played the silly game as much as me you can tell any slight difference, if you think i'm talkin out my rear search back and find me ranting about every change that ever happened

The top players would certainly beat an "old skool" team if it was over all game types, although a few of the oldies did adapt better to the US games than I did, so cant really vouch for everyone.

Yeah...i remember playing when if both of you were on form an both were in the top 3, if your break went slightly wrong, you lost. Now you invariably get a second chance at least.

Also, if an old skool thing was organised, I started on funkypool!! Admittedly it was before tournaments and the rating went up to 100.0 but it was still funkypool

Anyhoo, been rambling so i'll condense it a bit...

I think that the overall standard is high as it was, but as an individual game, the standard of UK 8 ball has dropped, merely due to (as chip_fork said previously) there being more games available so players spend less time playing one certain game type.

Also, seriously why am i mentioned about 3/4 times on every page? I left about a year ago!
