Asia
Japan
North Korea
South Korea
Oceania
Australia
New Zealand
I believe that Australia is in the Asian region of qualifying - Asian Cup etc
Oceania only has 0.5 qualifying spots - so we cant have two!!
I know we are in Oceania and no in Asia...but the football world is a weird one
It would be funny if Australia and New Zealand were in the same group

Now the pair of you are just being unfair. A few weeks ago, when I placed Australia in the "Asian" section, I was moaned at because Australia is not Asian. Now I'm being moaned at for placing them in Oceania. Damn you both
Just can't win with these Southerners
How about next time I place Australia in "Oceania but they qualified in Asia" and New Zealand "Oceania but they only made it because Australia qualified in Asia, but they are also Oceanian"?

Australia will surprise everyone, like they did in the last world cup, apart from the silly penalty!
But i don't know about New Zealand though :S

I find it highly ironic that Australia moved from the OFC to the AFC in order to qualify easier for World Cups (you can question me on that one) - which they did with great ease in the end - but then New Zealand themselves qualified from the OFC qualifying zone, which implies that Australia (undoubtedly the superior team) would have done so anyway against Bahrain had they stayed put. So instead, for the first time, we have 2 teams from (geographic) Oceania.
Of course, had Australia not been in the Asian qualifying zone, Jordan would have been in the third group of seeds rather then second for round 3 of the qualifiers, and might have qualified for round 4 rather than been one place outside, and who knows? Maybe they might have made it to South Africa. Or maybe Bahrain would have qualified automatically, instead of finishing in a play-off place (third place) in their round 4 group behind runaway group winners... Australia.

Agreed. But the fact that they qualified for the World Cup in the style they did proves that they're a better team that one (in general) that's only considered worthy of a playoff against another team after becoming the top team in their zone. So it was the right move overall.

I think Holland might win their first ever major competition this time round. Looking extremely intimidating.

Algeria are going to the World Cup after defeating Egypt 1-0 in Sudan.
Greece are 20 minutes away from securing their place, as they currently lead 1-0 away to Ukraine, after a 0-0 draw in the first leg.
Bosnia Herzegovina vs Portugal (0-1), France vs Republic of Ireland (1-0) and Slovenia vs Russia (1-2) take place very soon, and the final match of this long qualification process takes place in a few hours in Uruguay, who have a 1-0 lead against Costa Rica going into this final game.
Just think, unless there is a very long penalty shootout, this time tomorrow we will have our 32 teams

0-1 to Greece it is, Salpigidis after 31 minutes or thereabouts, so they qualify for their second ever World Cup. Ukraine were proverbially "all over them" in the last 10 minutes + 4 minutes (give or take) or stoppage time, but the final ball was always poor and they suffered wide after wide.
So there's one team today that has won away from home... Can lightning strike twice?
