If you say Barca's goal was a half chance, then surely Chelsea's goal was also from a half chance?
Agree with the chances and the frustration but that's football sometimes. Sometimes it is harsh and painful

Chelsea's goal was of course a half chance, but that's the brilliance of Essien for ya (can't speak highly enough of this player, as anyone that knows me knows all too well)!
But on the whole, Chelsea created more clear-cut chances than Barca, and should have had the tie wrapped up by 80 minutes were it not for poor decision-making on behalf of Drogba, Anelka and the referee! But hey, like you said, that's football!

Ah come on not this PC bull..he's referring to a southern European referee who would be better used to refereeing a match played my an English and a Spanish team.. nothing racist at all in that...makes sense to me

ps. is it me or is Jamie Redknapp a racist?
Moaning about the Norweigan referee because he is Norweigan. Saying the ref should have been Italian or somet like that. Racist comment or what?

Thing is, the referee regardless of where he's from should have made the right decisions, he is FIFA qualified. Just human errors.
And to be honest, an Italian referee might have made the same errors

very true there warney.
But what happened has happened. Dont forget, both teams had over 180 minutes to score, so surely you can not blame a loss on the last 4 minutes on a game?
but now I am thinking - is the away goals rule really fair? I would have liked to see that game go into extra time.

If there had been a Top Class referee such as Pierluigi Collina, then the game wouldnt be remembered for such blatant and awful decisions!!
The game needs more people like the great Pierluigi Collina!!

Completely agree Jim, the game will only be remembered for terrible refereeing. I still can't get over how that wasn't penalty, I don't think I've ever seen a more blatant penalty turned down in all my years of watching football. It's pretty disgraceful really. I feel a massive clear-out coming along at Chelsea during the Summer, shame really, players like Terry, Lampard deserve a Champions League, but will probably never get one now. UEFA and their conspiracies eh lol

I read about the things Hiddink said about the Uefa conspiracies, Planiti doesn't like EPL so he didn't want two teams in there again! I have seen worst ref'ing before, but three of them were defiantly penalties!

Still makes me laugh now the morning after Was a great win and it's nice to see from a Liverpool fan's point of view, and the reaction from the players, Ballack and Drogba mainly was terrible and maybe there should be fines considered?

What win?! It was a draw
At least Chelsea got that far...beating Liverpool too
As for Ballack and Drogba, yeah they were out of order but I can completely understand their frustration, I'd have done the same, only I'd have gone over and knocked the referee flat out

Okay was a great result, technically they won the tie as they went through
I agree i understand the frustration, and was willing them to knock the ref out, but they're meant to be role models and swearing on cameras in front of millions of viewers isn't how to sort it nor is being in the referees face after the game is over.

Haha they should have had decisions yes, but that should not have affected them losing focus defensively, that was their fault no1 elses!

I agree with the complaining and freaking at the ref, but going to the camera and saying those words were un-called for!
