Comes back to the human rights thing before. People who end up in jail have breached the rights of others, therefore removing their own rights in the process.

I think they should bring in the 3 strike systenm which they use in some American states eg Florida.

I also think the death sentence should be brought back for people who hurt/kill children or pensionars.

A minimum 5 year sentence for anyone caught carrying a knife.

10 years if you use it. Atleast.

Its time to get tough. And not let prisoners out early for "good behaviour". they still acted like animals on the outside.

Life is precious, if you are not willing to upkeep it, then you shouldn't deserve to keep yours...

I know it is harsh, but I genuinely believe that this should be the way.

Changing outlooks doesnt have to be a full on riot with massive confrontations. Just takes one guy/gal to have the guts to say "hey, we're not getting this, can you help?"

Heavy thread this, but its good, if it makes one person realise they're making a prat of themselves/hurting others, then all the better.

For me, its a logical thing. People who are so "wrong" as to commit serious (abuse/murder) are better of not alive and risking the lives of others should they be (inevitably) freed.

Sure, for one or two who do get in touch with reality and feel guilt and remorse, this is harsh and unfair.

But balance that, against the lifetime sentence one family who's little sister/brother has been abused and killed.

Who says logic and emotion aren't linked..

I was taught in a normal school and how the times have changed, if we talked back to a teacher they had the right to clip you round the ear, problem with kids now a days even the ones that get arrested they know they get away with a slapped wrist, i say punish the parents! the kids with ASBOS even can cause mayhem during the day becuase the so called family are collecting the money----! Not all kids and people are like this TBH but if they had national service back i think this would work, i have never met an older person (from the 60's) that went into the NS that knocks it, i have worked with guys that say it made them into the men they are today, some even come from a bad family and say it was the best thing that ever happened to them. Other than that we could try calling them witches and go back to the days where they get drowned and if they float they get burned if they drown then they are ok.. ok im ranting ! but you get me point

I liked school unlike many...I didn't think it was a chore. You met up with mates, had a laugh, and learned in the process. Compared to college it was a doddle. You get spoon fed most of the way through...easy days.

Why only them 2 types of people? Sure they may be more defenceless than others but everyone is a person and have equal rights etc so it shouldnt be any different for children/pensioners

What I don't get about the British Criminal System is that "life in prison" means 25 years!!! I mean, why call it life?

The only thing that todays youth is worried about is public image and street cred. If they feel like they have been embarrassed in public and in front of their "mates", they decide to go stab them??

The latest case was of that 14 yr old boy, who gave someone a "dirty look" - I think that might be getting into the realms of ridiculous.

good point - I agree with the fact that a life sentence, should be just that!

As for the death sentence, previously mentioned. I would be against that; no one has the right to take a life, I know the offender may have done, but that does not give a jury of people the right to decide whether that person is to live or die!

Would you want to have to make that decision if you were called up for jury service?

Take this recent episode of Barry George - he was recently released from prison, having been in there for 8 years - for a murder he did not commit!

Now... Imagine you were part of the jury that found him guilty... and he was given the death sentence; how would you feel when it was realised the 'justice system' had failed, and he was innocent after all?

Wow this is a "hit at home thread" I think socity is to blame for all this the ever changeing "fads" most kids today want to be part off what most people are into these days, if the cooler kids are doing drugs, carry weapons, be part of gangs etc...the kids want to be part off that(im not saying all kids) but peer pressure and wanting to fit in resorts to these kids doing just this, taking drugs becoming part off gangs carring weapons etc.. its very hard to control this, i know myself i was the most coolest kid when i went to school and i resorted to doing what they where doing smoking, drinking, just trying to fit in...and its only now that i realise that it was pointless why should i disrespect myself to please these animals, and the youth of today dont understand this and they carry on dissrespecting themselves to be part of someting that is classed as what the cooler kids would do, thats my opinion on what is wrong with the youth today

The reason i made this thread is because i reading the dedications thread and i saw a reply saying "thankz"

Now some people would say oh no big deal?
But surely moving your finger not even a centimetre on your qwerty keyboard to put the s and spell it correctly wont kill you!

Which got me thinking... What are the youth of today actually doing in school, all you ever hear about todays youth is murders or crime!

Okay im only 18 but i did actually listen in school and got good grades and now training to become an accountant, it wasnt that hard all you need is concentration. So why cant school kids put 6 hours a day for 5 days a week and get a good job good house good life instead of pretending to be bad and "gangster like"

Surely if we found a way to solve their attitudes it would also bring a big slash in crime too.
