Ryan, it was 4-2

Yes, we did win 7-0 midweek. The problem is, our midfield and strikeforce aren't that strong. Up front, Billy Mehmet and Jim Hamilton have so far proved to be the only two doing something. Dennis Wyness hasn't done anything, and Craig Dargo missed about ten sitters last season and scored one goal.

Midfield, we don't have much at the wing. No right wingers. Three can play at the left, but they are all new and may take a few weeks to adjust to the team. Not sure how good the Spanish guy is, but Steven Robb looks decent. In the middle, Gary Mason and Andy Dorman are definitely good enough for SPL. Garry Brady is a decent enough replacement when needed.

Our main problem is, as I've already said, scoring. Only Mehmet and Hamilton look capable of it. Dorman usually is, but he missed three great chances at the weekend.

At least we've defended well enough, and in goals, Mark Howard has been one of the top keepers this season. Our three losses were all by one goal. Still, I'm concerned about defensive errors and scoring. We have our best squad in years. Unfortunately, so do most of the league.

Its far to early for all your talk. Its not over till the fat lady sings.

I dunno, if Mendes does that at Ibrox on the 27th December...I reckon there's going to be something to worry about!

Just don't mess up now!

Heard something about this. I never knew anything about him or who he played for. I only know 'Well fans and Partick fans liked him a lot.

R.I.P. Jamie.

Spent a season at Pars also, doesn't matter though, times when all football clubs pull together.

Always a reminder how fragile things can be.

EDIT: Also won the Scottish Masters in Sky Sport's Masters football I believe. (Always remember the ex-Pars.)

Aberdeen 1-2 Hamilton Accies
Falkirk 2-1 Hearts
Hibernian 2-1 Dundee United
Inverness CT 1-2 St Mirren
Motherwell 2-4 Celtic
Rangers 2-1 Kilmarnock

Good win for the Saints. It has been a very long time (maybe even a year) since the team that led a Saints match ended up losing it. Inverness were handed a penalty to take the lead 43 minutes in. Fourth penalty Saints have given away this season in five games, three of them being stonewallers. The other was the controversial one against Celtic.

Billy Mehmet equalized in the 61st minute, and Garry Brady sealed the win on 80 minutes.

Up to 9th in the league out of the 12.

Good double for Fletcher at the Hibees game, especially with 10 men.

Good comeback from Rangers today, shame about Papac being sent off.

St Mirren 1-1 Falkirk

Decent match, with Saints proving they can create a lot more chances than they did last season.

Falkirk took the lead on the 47th minute, but a Billy Mehmet penalty in the 50th minute put the score to 1-1. We now have the same amount of penalties this season as we got last season (One). Mehmet scores his 6th goal in 7 games, in all competitions. Very good record, he only scored 9 last season. (Before that season, he was pants, but now he's a goal machine )

I've noticed at least one or two Dunfermline fans about on Funkypool recently. Any of you planning to go to the Cup match tomorrow? Got my seat on the supporters bus, my first trip to Dunfermline.

C'mon ye Saints

Did you enjoy the trip? Enjoy the long journey back? Enjoy the couple of goals you conceded? St Mirren an SPL side? Pffft riding their luck for a few seasons now.

Strangely 4 Pars rejects in the St Mirren line up, well maybe not Gary Mason he's pretty good, but Mehmet, Potter and Jim Hamilton are root-a-toot-toot!! And I think I could have marked Jim Hamilton out of the game.

The good times will be back....eventually.......slowly

A 4th trip to hampden in 5 years wouldn't go miss though!!

That game was a complete borefest

St Mirren's worst performance of the season so far, and it was against a mediocre Pars side. Dunfermline barely impressed me, and when two teams play that badly, usually the home side wins. I'd reckon if both teams played like that in Paisley, Saints would have won 2-0.

The two goals for the Pars were pretty good, not much chance for Howard to save them. However at 0-0, I'm sure Saints should have had a penalty. Jim Hamilton was clearly fouled, and although the refs view wasn't great, the linesman really should have noticed. Taken from behind, tackler didn't get a touch of the ball.

Talking about ex-Pars, your right about Mason being good, consistent midfielder who never lets us down. Mehmet is now reaching the potential he has always had, with 6 goals already this season. Hamilton has struck up a good partnership with Mehmet, and is a decent player now. Potter is a good leader on the pitch who has just had an unlucky start to the season.

Anyway, crap game. I was shocked at the Pars attendance though, they barely had 1000 fans. Terrible for a 1st Division side methinks.

If i were to give my honest opinion then i'd say for 60 mins there wasn't anything to pick between the sides. Then it looked like st mirren gave up and from then go pars were hungrier and first to every ball and ran out deserved and comfortable winners. The attendance could maybe be explained by it not being included in season tickets, and it being the league cup and st mirren aren't exactly a crowd drawer. This was one of the games that proves what's been happening the last few reasons, there is no difference go quality between the lower spl teams and the majority of the 1st division. We aren't inferior to st mirren, we're on a good run of form and you are in a bit of bad form it is certainly far from a shock result. This is another results that shows scotland need a 16 team premier league. Nowadays you need to better to gain promotion than you do to survive relegation. I think gus has had ample chance with what i would consider and good bunch of players and constantly underachieved and it's his time to go.

I have to agree with a bigger league. A 1 up 1 down system with a 12 team league isn't good at all. Many 1st Div teams have proved themselves good enough to compete, especially St Johnstone, who just can't get promoted. It's time to give these teams a chance, they are good enough.
