ok...this is my 915th post (and i know some would say 915 too many!!)

but even though I have been around for a bit now, I have the same rights and privileges as a person who starts out with their first post!

I can only have 1000 characters in one post, then the new rules, 15 posts in 10 minutes..and whatever over so many hours.

But wouldnt be better to 'reward' the forum users who put in so much time and effort for putting their 2 cents in somehow?

like, after say 1000 posts, increase someones character limit to say 1200?? little rewards..nothing to be proud of, but just a little 'thanks' and after that many posts, Im sure that we can trust those people with a few more characters...

but as you get more posts, get more forum abilties...say 10 000 post is unlimited posting forever??

yes, you just go down after you reach your limit and keep typing; but we have to reward these people somehow!!

Well I think that with so many posts used for just fun and games it is pointless. More rights for people who post the more would get people abusing posts and just posting over and over again with pointless posts.

The increase in characters is good because I find I need more quite a lot But only for everyone! Thousands of posters will argue that "they should not get extra characters because all they do is post 'kick or kiss' and it will cause some dispute I'm sure, especially if someone is posting a very helpful post on how to fix your computer and they only have 5 forum posts and need more characters to complete it in one.

I think it's good to have an increase but only if it is for everyone.

We shud all have the same rights no matter how long we have been here. EVERYONE has to play 100 games to gain posting ablilties. Them rules are not new, they have been there ages. Its only the counter thats new.



The above statment (in my opinion) only goes to ppl who DONT NEED more than 1000 characters.
Queries/Shouts/ and Poem thread on fun and games are the only ones id say need more characters.

Exactly. Aflumpire says that he thinks people who make the most posts should be 'thanked' and get extra rights. Now those people are the people who post loads on fun and games. Now if people are going to extra rights surely they're going to post more posts like 'kick and kiss' to have those rights. No matter what those rights are, people will still want them. Maybe to feel special, I don't know. But they will want them. Surely that is a path way to trouble? Posts will get out of hand, people will be arguing...But there is a set amount I think, which basically prevents a ridiculous amount of posts daily.

I think that the characters being improved by a couple of hundred is great idea and would be beneficial, of course only if it can be done. This might be way off but maybe the reason there is only 1000 available has something to do with the site/server??? and surely has been calculated to get whats best for various things on this site. But I think it would be good to get extra.

When you think about it tho, those on the likes of 'Kick and Kiss' dont usually post lots elsewhere so i dont think they would 'BUMP' posts just to gain extra characters that they dont wish to use.

I think its the amount of posts on each thread rather than the amount of words on each post thats the strain on the server, which is why Nick reduced them to 2000 posts per thread.

I dont see why it cant be implemented, and again, it would be great for the debates on Queries/Shouts/Poems.

They may not want the extra characters, but they may want the extra forum abilities he has mentioned which has potential to cause a bit of trouble. Which is why I dis-agree with the suggestion.

But like you, I think the extra characters is good, as long as everyone receives it not just those with thousands of posts

Pointless to seperate people based on the amount of posts they have. Maybe a character increase would come in handy occasionally but not often enough to make it worthwhile IMO

We think EVERYONE should be treated the same regardless of time spent/joined/posts w/e on here..and we think the increase would be good for queries/shouts/and poems...

UL_son: Id love an increase (purely for poems) I often have to either continue onto another post or shorten it.
Them extra 200 characters could make a big difference.

hmm...bit of a mixed bag here lol....

well then how about if the extra characters could only be used on general chat and game queries??

and I dont think it would add to heaps of spam posts; because it takes a damn long time to get 1000 posts, and still a fair few hours to spam 1000 posts without been banned from forum!!

How would you judge who is "senior" enough? If you have 100 posts in a day, you would then be qualified as a "senior poster" in just 10 days. Anyone can spam up to 100 posts, and we mods wouldn't get any sleep! And it wouldn't be fair to give those of us who have been here longer any extra characters.


It's a good idea, because there are quite a few members that truly do use up every single character of every post, but I don't think it will happen. Keep the good ideas coming though, Aflumpire!



AND, don't shoot down an idea someone has simply because you think it's a bad one. Anyone who posts their ideas here for anyone to read has a lot of courage and deserves our full attention. Please be nice in future.

Im not dismissing any ideas. I said i thought the notion of having an extra 200 charcters in a forum post when you can write on anyway, being regarded as a REWARD was pathetic..

if your that senior and trustworthy etc etc, become a moderator. That way you get more charecters
