It could regardless be a very distracting factor, but the simple solution to that is to make each user able to setup whether or not you want to see avatar pictures on the table or not.

just set a transparancy level to about 50% so the pictures on the table are less bold... problem solved.

I think that would be distrating because i would'nt like to see a picture over the table lol.

The sponsors on football fields dont distract players....I know that this is a bit different to that but then again, I dont see cricket players complaining because the red ball went into the red advertisment!

if it was made a WATERMARK, then there is no problem....I like this idea as the table is always different.

Maybe when you set up a table, there could be a 'Picture Option' with YES or NO.

Obvious what would happen if you click yes or no but then if someone came in WITHOUT a profile pic, then no pics would come up (otherwise its just...crap)

you misunderstand what I meant with that option. You choose whether you want to SEE pics, not whether your pic would be visible for others. In short you get 0 or both

Needed changes for the idea to work:

-Changed Table (allowing for two/one pictures)
-Added toggle option for viewing pictures/not
-Possible filter to picture uploads to ensure colors have enough contrast with the balls (ty sir_auron)
-Maybe a new forum for picture violation reporting to mods
-New servers to hold all the people that join because of the idea?

As for the options regarding picture moderation / qualification, those are really not needed as long as you have a toggle on whether you like to see pictures on the table or not (if you meet a player with a disturbing picture you simply suppress it)

I spew confidence. Suppressing the image would be awkward, as you would have to trek back and forth (great journey, I know..) to the options page.

watermark to say 90% contrast so the picture is just viewable.......

Or even better - combine it with aflumpire's watermark line of thought: Skip the toggle and make it a slider from 0 to 100% viscosity (sp)

Great idea, make it a bit funkier!

Nice idea would make funkypool more popular and exciting.It would be better if you could choose a colour as your felt, then the profile pictures along with the ranking underneath was displayed before the game started and then the pictures faded away so that there would be no problems with ball colours during game play.

as in peoples computers not the servers? could people not just upgrade their java? You could set up an annoucment with a link as per the table felt thread. Then people could upgrade before the deadline for the upgrade>? If its the server that causes the problem then never mind
