Definately on, but with music in the background also, generally accompanied by the doodle doo of msn messages and also by the various sounds of the telly

i play with it off - my missus gets angry if i log in as a guest and the sound comes on

on and off makes no difference how i play.

The only time i have it on is when im on youtube
