in my opinion a mod is always needed i think mods should make a weekly schedule to there liking and take turns on and off shift

or they could just come online whenever they can.. kind of like they do now. the schedule would just mean they come online whenever they can anyway..

Mods do well enough as it is, and I beleive adding schedules will make a mods life more complicated than it has to be...

Keep in mind that mods are unpaid volunteers, using this site for fun and R&R like everyone else...

Expecting a work schedule for mods is quite simply expecting way too much - sorry.

I completely agree with you on the need - it's definitely there, but it can't be solved by adding mod schedules.

The only real way to improve mod coverage is to add more mods.

Being a mod on FS, i would not like this at all! However it would give me an excuse to come on at times...

i dont think it is realistic to have a timetable and as mentioned above mods are unpaid volunteers. however i agree that there is a need for something to be done i quite often get "there are no visible mods online" when i am trying to contact one.

We try our best to come on whenever possible. However, most mods and admin are from the UK, with a few from Australia and me from the USA. That leaves about 4 people to cover the time when the UK people are sleeping. We do the best we can to log on when we have time, but please keep in mind that we have lives outside of Funkypool too!

People forget, we do not get paid to moderate and that we are on here whenever we can (sometimes more than we should be ) however remember you can always use features like the send complaint.

You don't cap threads just because some users think a topic is out-debated, uninteresting, "finished" or whatever. You cap if it violates board rules, people misbehave, go badly off topic or similar.

A lot of people (not necessarily you, mind) seem to think the normal end of a thread's live is capping lol.

Unless there's good reasons not to, the normal way of things is to let threads die of natural causes.

i appreciate that the mods we have do a good job, however there are times when no mods are online and this is where the problems arise. we need to have more mods and some kind of undercover moderating is also a good idea, there seem to be people who actively wait for no mods to be around so they can misbehave.
this is a family site and on an almost daily basis i witness abusive or foul language when no mods are visible, i am unwilling to allow my children into chat rooms due to this kind of behaivour, as the rules clearly state that this kind of thing is not acceptable i believe people should booted on thier first offence.

This is the reason why the send complaint button was implented. So if no mods were online, you can still complain about abusive users.

Just use that if no one is around, or you could just ignore the user.
