how about a different system that does not take affect to your rank and have a seperate tournament rank,

To turn it right back at you, why not use the same rank? There's no good reason people should be able to keep tourny and rank separate imo

i just think that the current system works very nicely the way it is in ranked games,i can play who i choose,the current system is about risk,if i want a small gain in points i will choose to play a lower rank player if i want a challenge i would lose less rank to a higher ranked player as the way it is now i have freedom of choice of whom i am able to lose or gain ranking points however if i was to enter the tourny i would have no say so.the current system works perfectly as it is and would not like to see it cross over to the tournaments

the second reason is that i and others play far differently in tournaments and it would make a nice addition to the tournaments as i am aware of the players that win tournaments but it would be nice to see how every one gets on for eg i got into x amount of semis it would reflect that in my tournament rank

third reason is i love stats lol

Being pointless for one thing. A separate tourny ranking ladder would say nothing the existing tourny stats don't already do - IF the total number of tournies entered were part of said stats.

The entire point about making tournies ranked would be to remove the current option players have of keeping tournies and rank completely separate. Tournies SHOULD be a competitve game type - imo.

That's a great reason. Although a counter of amount of tournies entered would also need to be recorded to derive any sort of meaning from it.

most players compete at similar rank as most wish not to play newbies or low ranked players for fear of losing major chunks of points especially in 9 ball,therefore i can imagine some players avoiding these tournaments,i know its sad and is just a game in my opinion but a lot of players regard there rank highly.and i don't think that a players rank is in relation to tournament wins as there are plenty of adept players with more tournament wins then some of the pros on here.I witness that players play far differently and more tactically than in ranked games therefore i think it should have a different ranking system if not at all

the only stats that are available on here is the number of tournament wins,they do not suggest in any way of the players that have repeatedly come far in the tournament.
I am not suggesting that stats were available for how many semis or quarters jo bloggs have reached just a ranking system that is separate to the current one to indicate the current form

Well, in my opinion, if you are gonna keep it a separate system from the normal rank ladder, you might as well forget rank all together and add more stats instead. Easier, does the same job, and avoids any issues with people abusing low ranks.

a minority of players will always abuse rank they are doing it now to the current system but to me it works well as it is and i cant see the harm in a stand alone ranking system for tounaments as i feel it would be just as easy to do as it would be the same system but just in tournament games,am sure players that dont play in ranked games and only in tournys would be delighted with this idea
