I created an account on here and played 144 games against the same person on 9 ball. I won 77 games (53 %) and lost 67 (47%). however the points were as follows ..... me 678.6 vs my opponent 703.1. This shows how bad the scoring system on here is.. come on guys get it sorted or the ranking on here should and does mean absolutely nothing!!!!!!

Well maybe he was a higher rank than you to start with and had the longest streak therefore winning more points in a single streak than you won back...

(if you dont get me: player 2 wins 30 games in a row (with you ahead lets say 52-41), winning lets say 50 points. P2 then loses 10 games and loses 20-30 points, then its back and forth until it's at the final score)

Or you lost the majority of the final games... winning 1 in around 20

And don't forget the effect the newbie adjustment has for the first 100 games.

So, what this actually goes to prove is that the scoring system works perfectly

He did nothing bad as you put it, all we did was play pool and he made 1 post! If that's bad then i'll expect the same treatment anytime soon!

Both players were newbies and started from the same score one won 53 % of the games and ended up 24.5 points behind!! The scoring system works perfectly ... lol ... I think it says it all that someone even tried to justify it... it is nonsense in my view... no further attempts to justify a faulty system required !!!

How/why do you think that he was banned for that post? It could have been a number of things which are totally un-connected to that particular post, best not to jump to conclusions, as users do not get banned for asking about the ranking system!

As for people being banned, as everyone knows, no-one gets banned unless absolutely necessary.

By signing up for an account, all users confirm they have read, understood, and agree with the sites terms of service, so any disagreement following is in fact a dissagreement with their own decision.

Newbie vs newbie why is adjustment required.. makes little or no sense to me.... I read the rules and am simply questioning their validity, not whether I want to continue playing under them!!

The 115000 users tells me that people enjoy playing pool, I can ascertain nothing about whether they agree with the ranking system from this single information item.

Progressive games develop and change as flaws become apparent and people having the right to question rules/ scoring systems etc is I believe necessary for that progression/ development to happen. If you are saying that questioning these things is against the rules or unlikely to act as a catalyst for change then just say so, and I wont waste my time typing on the forum... rather than cutting and pasting the ... signing up for an account blah blah blah comment!

Thinking is good , change is inevitable and life goes on regardless lol!!

The current system has developed due to the ideas discussed here, and any suggestions for improvements are always welcome.

The OP ending up banned has absolutely nothing to do with this thread.

Newbie adjustment does not apply when two newbies play each other, that is the point i was making. Also, the original poster either didnt realise or decided to ignore the fact that their opponent was playing and winning games against other players besides them. (game results are viewable by all users remember)

It's all very simple and logical really

But then some people like to ignore facts when they feel like a "rant against authority", it takes all sorts to make a world as they say.

As of now we have 115,611 members. Many people dont realise just how much goes on, as they tend to stick to their own circles of friends, which is fine.

Just take a break sometime and look through the game lists, any time day or night, and they will be full of people you've never noticed because they just come on and play while you're not looking

You know how many of them have been on for over a year?
