Here is a GOOD thread from me which has never been mentioned before

We have US and UK pool. And as an Australian, us Australians have a version of pool as well and with so many of us as members, I present you with a new AFL idea.

8 Ball Australian

Its more or less a mixture of UK and US rules. Played on a US table, with US balls with similar UK rules.

DIFFERENCES: Break only from the 'D'
US table fetures a 'D'
No 'free shot' to any ball if carry is awarded
Potting of cue ball results in replacement in D (like in snooker)
played on maroon tables in most pubs (where i live)

Only 3 major differences from both games but when you do play it, you do notice how different it is. You dont have to touch the rail after hitting a ball and that either. It is a truly different game and seen as this is Funkypool, we could always give it a bit of a twist....a 'Funky Twist' lol.

How about that one. Hope its not to 'pointless' this time

and also you cant shoot backwards of the d on a *carry* shot

lol i like this idea. being an aussie. and if you dont like this idea. dont post. those who do have constructive critisism please say somthing but dont say * it is pointless or . too many nations will be offended.*

Does this then standardise the game play eg. one game of pool going away from all the games we have!!!

maybe they add another tourn game like 8AUS, then we have

8UK
9US
8US
8/9AUS etc..

Like the idea of another game thou

Aussies dont really play 9 ball as much as we play 8 ball. 9 ball rules here are basicly the same as US 9 ball but you dont have to hit the rail after hitting the object ball.

Actually, I really like this idea as well. In 8 ball US here, (USA lol) you don't get what we call the "ball in hand" (where you get to place the cue ball wherever you want if your opponent fouls). You can place it where you want as long as it is behind the breaking line, and you must shoot at one that is over the breaking line. And you don't get fouled for hitting your opponent's ball first, only if you scratch.

This idea sounds a lot more like the 8 ball I am used to playing. Great idea!

Good idea, but remember, if you lose, you've got to run around the table with your pants down.
