choose a partner i think.

it wud be unfair to have random partners as one player could just not turn up.

I was going to mention seperate ranking points for every team created, but that's just a mess lol.

I'm with dark_cloud on this one, i think you would have to pick a lifetime partner.

You could have several lifetime partners

Rankings can simply start at 675 for each game you play with a new partner, and move on from there.

Regular teams will rise to the top naturally.

OR

Each player has an individual doubles rank (its not nonsense, think about it )

When you team up, the amount gained (or lost) is spilt 50/50 and applied to each players doubles rank.

Personally, i prefer the first idea

No fixed time (that i am aware of) but the multiple players on minigolf are a trial for the system.

How far along it is, only Nick knows

Always wanted this idea to be introduced.. I think you should be able to pick your partner all the time

A doubles tournament would be cool.

Players could pick their partners during tourney registration and before the tournament actually begins. Unpaired players at tournament start time can then be randomly assigned together as a team. If a player logs off though that could cause problems... one way around this could be to randomly re-invite an eliminated player, or to pair up other players in the same situation. So if player A's partner as logged off and so has player B, then they're lumped together.

Or do you know what would be even madder... Ramdomly pairing the players after every round!!!! I'd actually love that... And it would solve the problem of players logging out in between rounds.

One problem with a doubles tournament will always be how to deal with an odd number of players after a round... but the earlier idea of randomly re-inviting an eliminated player could fix this.
