Indeed one discipline would be easier, but each game is different, wich different tactics - and (in one obvious case) different sized balls and table. Try telling someone like 6pack_jay that he has to play 9 ball to be a world champion, or a proven 9 ball expert that he has to play UK 8 ball to defend his title. Unseemly. Nothing wrong with that basic idea though... I'd like to see someone hold all three at once!!!

If a player challenges someone and fails, there's nothing wrong with a rematch if the champ decides so. After playing 5 or 15 or 50 games against the one person, maybe a break ain't a bad thing, eh!

Going back to the earlier point, if I were champion and I logged on, I'd probably take the challenge of the first challenger who realised I was online and laid it on.

Can a championship match end in a draw? Depends what the protagonists agree to.

What is someone takes the crown and doesn't log on for an age, or refuses to accept challenges? We good, reasonable, rational people will see this and act accordingly. Of course, some people might have to do human things like go home for weekends, or fall sick, etc. We'll kep that in mind as we choose a successor, and then force a reunification bout (as such) to create an undisputed champion, not some champion who hadn't logged on for a week and another one in the same discipline who his/her peers chose as the successor, and therefore confusion over both. But this thread will log everything that happens.

Can a title be put on the line as part of a regular tournament? Hmmmm... I for one wouldn't like to be throned in something as a best-of-3 encounter. If I got to a final then maybe... But definitely not a speed tourney! Although if I knew I was going away for a week or something and was willing to hand the title to someone else then ...

...then I might declare that whoever won the tournament (reasonably) was the new champion. And I say reasonably because this idea of a world championship is based on matches played. So if I gt DQ'ed before I played the final, how could the tournament winner by default claim to be champion? Tournament winner perhaps... but not world champion as far as this idea of mine goes. But I'd try to make sure I played them as soon as I could to give them a decent crack at it, if that's the way I was going about it, i.e. agreeing to put my title on the line in a best-of-5 tournament final.

First person to win two tournaments in any of these becomes champion!!! And can immediately be challenged for their world crown!!! Well not if they wanna log off first and take a break for an hour or a day or whatever, obviously... And these count towards those two wins:

We'll choose a successor from the ranks, somehow. This thing will run swimmingly just as soon as we get a champion for each; after that it's straight forward. There's no "entry" as such; if they're the champion and they keep winning, then that's just super. If they get bored with it, they can just say "Right, next person to beat me wins it" or something.

If cityfan84 wins the 8 ball UK speed tourney in the next few minutes I'm naming him champion, and if anyone disagrees you can argue with him on the pool table!
