i reakon you should be able to get rid of newbie status after 50 games like on snooker because i feel 100 is too much

any ideas?

Nobody likes being a newbie, nobody likes playing a newbie and getting less points.

I always thought it was strange that the player that isn't the newbie has a reduced change in score when it could be the other way around, so if a newbie gets beat their drop in points is reduced. This would help the newbie more than the current system which seems to punish the non-newbie for playing newbies, just my opinion

have to agree the newbie status should be reduced to 50 games because for all we know it could be a pro on another account.

Well i'm gonna stir things up here because i think 100 games alone is not enough.

I would like to see a time limit in place (say 6 months) as well as games played.

This would go quite a way to reduce creation of multiple accounts, especially on forums, and wouldn't make much difference at all to a genuine newbie.

Also, the newbie rank adjustment works both ways, and whe you think about it logically, actually protects you in the event of a newbie being an experienced player.

Oooh i reckon a time limit is a good idea, but it just depends on the games played, just as you said.

By a time limit i mean someone would stay as a newbie for the first 6 months regardless of how many games they have played.

Time limit is a mental idea.

If I register and play a 1,000 games in 5 months i'm still a newbie. If someone else registers and plays 10 games in 7 months they aren't a newbie?

How long you are a newbie is fine as it is IMO, I am not particularly keen on how the score changes work though.

Newbie status is too help inexperienced players. Why put a time limit on it when a match limit is available?

Remember newbie status is not just something that affects rank etc.

Having a time limit would prevent people signing up, rattling through a few games, then spamming the forum.

There has been a lot of discussion over the years about the newbie/rank thing. Another option is for newbies to be limited to friendlies only.

They can then still interact with other members, enter tournaments, and people who reset usually do so just to try to get a good or perfect win percentage, so it wouldn't affect them either.

It would also be a nice moment for the newbie to move on from friendlies to "real" competition.

I'm fed up of being called a multi-user while being a newbie - I came from snooker and I'm in the top 10 there I just wanted a change. Can't people understand this?
