We're all used to the fact that we can't view a game once it's in progress. So I ask - why? Why wait for a game to end before you see the action from the start of the next one? Why have to see a game from the beginning? If the "game" knows where the balls are, then why not load 'em up in the window of someone who joins in the middle of a game?

Maybe it's something to do with server strain and it wouldn't do to have the one game being transmitted to all those people, but aren't all games added together easily handled by the server?

I agree completely. In fact I'm almost positive it was a bug on nick's to do list. Not sure though..

I've seen this in games before, although none of them were Java, all flash. I expect that its harder to do with Java then? But its a great idea
