i dont no if this is a good idea but if there is not going to be points then how about seedings in the tourny?

it is probably never going to happen but thought it might help as it would make the tourny better IMO but there will be people who wont like it becuase the lesser players have a better chance if this doesnt happen.

whats a seeding tournament suppose to be?? can u explain a little more?

like the champions league, you have the best players as first seed and etc.....

so then the best p;layers avoid eachother in the early rounds.

Seeding - the better players are kepy apart until the later rounds. That's why you'll never see Man United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Bayern Munich in the same Champions League group. Unless two of them them get really crap and their coefficient takes a hammering.

well it is a good idea but i don't think its fair if someone new has to vs someone very good and what if your in the middle is that counted as good?

u have the top say 5-10 players as top seeds, that means they will avoid eachother until the later rounds i.e. quarters.

everybody who is not in the top seeds will play anybody else.

I don't really understand how it makes a difference, they will meet a good player eventually, also they should have to have challenging matches throughout the tourny like the rest of us, not just in the latter stages.

Why should they only have to play people that are ranked lower, this isn't the case when they play in ranked games, pro's and higher ranked people only want to play people with similar ranks so not to lose too many points, so why should they have an unfair advantage over the rest of us in tournys? I just think it should be random!!

Nothing wrong with the way it is, if you're gonna get beaten by a good player it might as well be sooner rather than later. I can see the point though of those who want to see seeding in. How's about seed players who have recently won tournaments? Or what about this: any players who won their last tournament, no matter how long ago, are kept apart for as long as possible.

Okay, went a bit in-depth there, just my fanciful ideas running amok!!!

i think i just want something done to the tourny, and thats sounds good to me.

On the subject of the champions league, how about if some of the tournaments followed that format? Start with a group stage where everyone in a particular group plays each other, then the top 2 in each group progress to the knockout rounds.

id consider myself a reasonably good player and winning a tournament isnt what matters...its how u win it. if u win a tournament by playing all intermediattes or novices (no offence to them out there) and it is too easy for u what good is it for your experience? so this seeding idea may be good but too many people are up and down with their rank and it may be too easy and it give less skilled players a harder tournament when surely it should give better ranked players the hardest draw if u wer to even it out??? however i believir its gr8 as it is

i agree the group stage will take to long for every tourny but say once a month a special tourny where only certain people qualify would be good IMO. and with that kinda format

What if the group stage matches were only say first to 1 frame? That shouldn't take much (if any) longer.

64 entrants would mean the winner would have to play 14-20 frames (with first to 2 in knockout matches and first to 3 in final). In a regular UK8 tournament now, the winner plays 13-20 frames with 64 entrants (i.e. almost exactly the same length).

I'm not suggesting all the tournaments should follow this format, just that it might add a bit more variation if some did.

Maybe group stages with standard length matches could be made once a week as a 'special' tournament. 64 entrants here would mean the winner plays 17-26 frames.

Another option is groups of 4 with just the group winner progressing (first to 2 frames). The winner of this would have to play 15-23 frames (max 3 frames more than a UK8 tourney).

i really like the speed tournys..wish there was more of them
