I can't believe your stupid enough to pay that price!(joke)
How much is it costing, and are you not worried about all the apparent technical problems? Also are you not a bit miffed of that they made you wait this long?

Not going near one.
I was looking in Gamestation the other day, a PS3 with four games for £570.
That is a ridiculous price. How can someone throw away that amount of money for a games console???
Ok, right the quality is good, but to get the best out of it, you need a HD television. Which will cost another £500 minimum.
What a scam, Wait a year or two.

If you think about how much a stand alone blu-ray player would cost (£550-£2000), it's actually pretty cheap. I think Sony are making something like a £60 loss on every console sold due to high production costs at the moment. If you just want it for games though, yeah it's pricey.
I'm waiting until blu-ray technology becomes cheaper before I even think about getting one. A few decent games would help too.

You need an HDTV to get the most out of the graphics for a 360 or PS3, even if they work on normal TVs. There have been problems reading text on a couple of 360 games on a normal TV, which may apply to the PS3 aswell

A good thought is that the games are only 39.99, which is cheaper than 360 games (most) and is the same price as the original ps2 games

Well, given that sony are losing money on each one sold, and it'ss the cheapest blu-ray player on the market, then it's really not a bad investment.

New technology is always expensive when it first hits the market. It's unreasonable to expect Sony to sell the PS3 any cheaper at the moment. They're already making a loss on it, and it IS the cheapest blu-ray player out there. I'm expecting the first price drop to be just AFTER next christmas (that's if they can get production costs down by then).
Oh, and I read the other day that Microsoft haven't yet started to make a profit on the FIRST X-Box. Something about high R&D costs that still haven't been paid off.

And we all know this is bull! How would they sustain themselves? Why would you bother making another console that isn't gonna make you money? I take it the source of this information has come from the board of directors in a bid to get more sales/explain stupid prices!

Actually, it's true. The first X-Box was Microsoft's first console, so the research and development costs were enormous. The 360 costs were much smaller, so eventually it will make a profit and it will have been worth the sacrifice to get a foothold in the market.
They also make a loss on Windows. They throw away so much money on R&D, marketing and testing etc, that it's almost impossible for them to break even. They get their money back from massive profits on Microsoft Office. Think about it, no Windows sales means no market for the product that is easiest to sell at a profit (Office). It's actually pretty good business on their part.
It's just Microsoft's way. First they gain a majority share of the market by selling products at a loss, then they reap the rewards later.
Off topic a bit there. I'll shut up about Microsoft now.
