i was just in a tournament then and i was 1-0 up and then i didnt respond and got beat 2-1 without my opponent winning a game.. wat do you do when it goes to 1/8 2/8 3/8 etc...

well if it says 1/8 etc you could have tried to type a message so your connection comes back or if that doesn't work don't know what else to sugest.

i yell at my computer, bash my mouse down a few times...then just stare at it like a monkey...

That's what I do. Not a lot else, cross your fingers. Shout downstairs if theres someone on the phone. If you have no DSL filters that'll disconnect you...

I usually make it respond again.

This technique is proven to be the most effective.

I also send messages, flick through the forum, anything that might make me noticeable. If you also make small whimpering noises, then you are doing all you possibly can.

Are you sure it's not loss of connection? It happens very rarely to me but when it does it's due to connection failure, so i just re-connect before all 8 attempts are reached.

Sound advice. But can i add that just because your omputer thinks its connected doesn't mean it is!

If you dot connect by 3/8 i'd reccomend (if you're on broadband, NOT dialup!) disconnecting then reconnecting manually.

Might not work but its up to you if you take the risk!

Nope. The second you do that you're done. You'll be logged out permanently as both your comp and the server time out.


EDIT: havin a very dodgy broadband provider (topshot'll tell ya!) I've tested everything. sometimes there really is nothing you can do.

i had a problem with aol - it was disconnecting me for fun while i was in a tourny.

I clicked sign off then i signed back on before it got to 7/8 and it worked for like 10 mins.

I had to do this everytime for the duration of the toruny but it worked. the nerve racking bit was to rush my shots before i reconnected!! it kept coming up that i had knockedthe other person out before i played on their screen hehe.

anyway moral of the story is.. i won that tourny and.... you have time to reconect before you get logged out so if it happens reconnect quickly

Have a look through your AOL settings. I think from memory it has an auto-disconnect if your "not busy" (which AOL used to define as "not using thier browser")

Untick the "disconnect when idle" or whatever its called and that should help in that case.

Magic - i've disconnected/reconnected before, and started responding. But like i said, its your risk!

Yep i find this the most effective! But be careful when throwing your chair around the room!
