OMG, you're all wrong, its The Proclaimers, pmsl.. joke lol, would have to go to the beatles! I dont like em loads but its obvious that they're the "best band ever" with all their albums/singles sold!

The Beatles may have sold loads but that in no way makes them the best. Anyone who's heard Yellow Submarine can easily see that.

Actually Metallica are a good example of sales not meaning good. Their first two albums were great but it was from their 5th onwards that they got big in terms of sales, and everything from Black Album onwards is absolutely pathetic.
You can't really argue any band is best, but for the sake of this thread, I'd go with Death. Technicality, songwriting, arrangements etc. are all excellent. Every album is a must own for anyone into metal.

Yellow Submarine is a perfect example of what makes them the best! Its one of thse songs we always try to slip in in random places and always gets a roar and fills any empty spaces on the floor.
Its the sheer range of musical tastes they covered without ever losing thier identity that makes them so popular. From simple 3-chord 2 part harmonies, to heavy rock, psycadelic wonderlands to childrens sing-songs, they covered it all.

I agree totally there. The individual members were all good in thier own right, but were only great when together.
I personally enjoyed George's solo work best, however i do respect what John was trying to do. Shame there aren't more peopl of his integrity in the public eye today..
But, back to the subject, 1_eye is right, unless you wanna do it statistically, its all down to personal preference.
So, for me, its a tie between the Restless Natives and Rack n Ruin.
