after the sicily derby last night a police officer was killed in a crowd riot, the italian f.a has postponed all profesional and ameteur football in italy indefinatly. personally i blame the fool who scheduled such an intense derby game for a friday night. they should realy do what we do over here and hold games where there may be violence at 12 on a sunday so no one can get drunk.

what does evryone else think

Yeah. i think ALL potentially volatile games should be played at noon. thats what they done with the Old Firm matches and it has helped alot.

its the same with the manchester and liverpool derbys, helps make football a more family event rather than the thugs that go to most games on the continent. the only thing that suprised me was that the fighting wasnt political, usualy in italy its about politics for example the facist supporters of lazio or any of the milan teams against the hardcore socialists in livorno or regina

I thought the ban was two weeks?

You heard the rumour that the new fifa president Platini wants to strip Italy of the world cup, absolutely ridiculous if you ask me.

If they want to punish someone, chuck palermo and catania out the league, let the other teams carry on!

come on turner you know that wont solve the problem, this violence was no worse than any number of events this year it was just unfortunate that someone died this time it could easily have happened at any number of fixtures this or last season. i know youl be against any generalised punishment cos u like to think ur italian but the whole of italian football must pay, its the only thing thta has ever stoped hooliganism, (england in the 80s) it wer liverpools fault in heysel all english teams were banned from europe for 5 years hooligansim efectily stoped, quite frankly i think italian football could do with calling this season of and giving tiself some time to rethink as it is in a pathetic state

Anyone watch the interview with the hooligan? It was sick, he kept saying how they'd never be stopped, it's there life! If you ask me it's no life, not worth living, and when you've just read about aload of poor Iraqi's being killed for being a cetrain religion it all seems abit tedious!

I have a good idea for stopping it. Get all the hooligans and put them in Iraq and Afganistan for a few months! See if there opinions will change.

And both Turkey and Italy need banning from Europe for a few years! I'm still annoyed that Turkish fans are allowed to go rouynd stabbing ppl and all there governing body get's is a slap pn the wrist! Politics!
