why dont you just have an option to only allow a certain rank in or an option to block specific players from joining???!!

Or if you're that picky just join suitable games yourself

Seriously, although very much against the "spirit" of FP, the number of times this has been suggested (going back at least 3 years), i would expect something along these lines to be included in the premium version. Probably the "search for similar rank" solution Nick mentioned a while back.

On thinking about it, there's a fine line between member right and member choice! Which should come first!?

Members have a right to choose who they want to play, yet the lower ranked should have the right and opportunity to play the higher ranked, higher ranked don't want to play lower ranked for numerous reasons that we've exuasted.

So where do we go from here, which side of the fence do you sit on?

That wouldn't work with the current numbver of disciplines. Presuming it gives you a list of people to pm or invite that is. I may be 800 rank in UK but on account of my recent dire performances I won't be plyain UK for quite while...
You see what I mean? You'd spend half your day PM'ing people who don't want to play the same game tyoe as you.

Very good point. When that was suggested there was only the one game!

All this is serving to re-enforce the reasons why "it is as it is"

Sadly, i guess the days of "everyone pays everyone" are pretty much gone now with bigger numbers and more competition, which has to be good.

At the end of the day, having room owners rank displayed will be the best compromise. Non-restrictive, whilst still providing choice for those who want it.

Nope, i cant, thats as clear as it can possibly be! (and yes i do mean having players rank displayed in the room name)

Having rank displayed is not restrictive = fact.
Having rank displayed gives people choice if they want it = fact.

My opinion is the people (not 1_eye - just people in general who are desperate to play only people between 817.2 and 817.7 rank, when the moon is full etc etc) should stop being so stupid and just play the game.

(Please note the smiley and added emphasis on sarcasm so as to further emphasise the humour of the point)

It IS your opinion of the facts. I happen to agree with you though.

Visible ranks giv chioce without being restrictive, a compromise I would be willing to reach for now. Eventually we have to have pre-requiited rank, it's the logical step, but for now, that'll do pig, that'll do.

(not referring to anybosy as a pig, the quote just popped into my head!

The forums really have become PC now haven't they! Maybe we need signatures (something i normally hate) just to put disclaimers in!
