We are trying to tackle the problem of abusive users so, in this case, having this trusted member service will be just the same as having moderators.

Sounds good to me, but what if someone needed help with something? Could the trusted members suppy the help that moderators give?

Seriously have a look at the other thread, all your points are discussed there and hence irrelevant here. We can't find enough mod's we need a good recruitment process to filter out bad egg's.

Yep, this idea is solely to tackle abusive users.

I really like the idea.
I also agree with quadraphenia's point that the very best option would be more full mods.
What I really like about this idea, though, is I think it would be a great way of bringing through mods on a fast-track trialist system with no security risk.

Why don't you just require people to pay a couple of dollars per month in order to play?
Even if you charge $1 per month, it is enough to keep the most abusive people away because of the hassle of inputting the credit card information.
That would solve most of the problems and require little to no added cost. Any profit could be used to recruit and add a moderator or two.

Making people pay would take away the funky in funkypool, its supposed to be free fun for everyone and should stay that way.

Thanks, I will.
Thanks again for highlighting what happens when someone gets a little authority as well.

Another one who doesn't understand sarcasm! And magic, they say it is the lowest form of humour!
Like martin_blank's point!

People who say that are just trying to make themselves feel better because the sarcasm goes way over thier head..
Not that i'd know, of course...
But back to the "why not have more real mods" thing, its worth noting that despite its obvious immediate benefit in cleaning up the chatrooms, this idea would also provide a much quicker and effective method of recruiting new mods.
Also - you neither have to be a mod nor a "trusted user" to help someone out

Which is a great point, when we first had the up-date, i spent ages explaining to people how to get there pics up, alot of them didn't know about the forums and what not! Although i was probably more of a hinderance! hehe.
EDIT: I've lost track of the times you've helped me spinner, aswell as the others!

I can't decide whether you 'like my point', or my point is the 'lowest form of humour'
So:
scenario 1) Cheers 1_eye
scenario 2) Go and boil your head

I totally agree with evrything thats been mentioned. its a great idea to have "hidden mods" or whatever you sed they are called (i forgot and i dont want to lose all this wroting to go back and check ) because if you notice when a "real" mod does appear in a room half the time the offencive language stop and it appears as nothing has been goin on. Therefore if you cant see em and are caught and booted there is less chance they will come back and do it agen cos they wont know who booted them in the first place
oh and John u helped me with my pic but it didnt work hehehehe
(hope that makes sense btw lol)

They don't annoy me. They just make me fall over.
16:06 Tue 23 Jan 07 (GMT) [Link]
Is it not annoying to fall over though?
Still a good idea though to stay on topic

Agreed. Too good a thread to go off topic.
This is a great idea and one that could improve things short-term, in the way of assistant/trialist mods, and long-term in the sense of pushing through good potential mods.
It is definitely something that will be discussed fully (& I personally hope - implemented) by mods & admin.

Nick = General
Afey = Regimental sergent major
Pool_life = Squadren sergent major
Martin_blank = Staff sergent
Rich = Sergent
Dr_lovepump = Sergent
Mattaus = Corporal
Topshot = Corporal
k3v = Lance corporal
