hi,i was just wondering if a rule can be put in place when mods or admins aren't online like if someone swears that person gets booted by the system and because it will clamp down on the number of people who give abuse to people in the chat rooms.if anyone else thinks it's a good idea feel free to post.

It has already been implemented for guests, not so sure about members but it would be silly if it hasn't.

Of course it is the second or third time as the filter is not 100%.

magicblack i have just sent a chat log of people swearing and personally i think something needs to be done about this problem because it gives a bad impression if for example young kids are in the chat rooms and have to see this.

I remember Nick saying before that members have 3 chances, then get booted, and a log is kept for review. Though this may have changed.

Swear filters always have thier limitations, however adding the words with s p a c e s and f.u.l.l stops would help a bit as those who think they're smart would be tricked into thinking the filter is better than it really is.

Its more a reflection on how sad some people are. Reporting offenders really is the best option, especially now guests are muted.

Guests should be muted. If they want to chat they should sign up.

But to the topic, spinner i reckon it would take ages for the staff to sort out the kind of swear filter you are on about. But if all of them mucked in i think it could be done!

Guests have been muted since the last update

Nick said:
Guests Muted In Chat Rooms
Guests chatting ability has been revoked in chat rooms and guests can no longer initiate private message sessions.

However guests may still respond to PMs initiated by a member and can chat in friendly game rooms.

Not sure where we officially stand on this but from what it appears now you have one warning form one or two mods the others wont give you a warning at all

I give a warning where the word is contextual. If it is an intentional use of offensive language, known to break rules, I boot.
I make no secrets of it. I don't see the point in warnings in cases like these. The second I leave the room they'll continue.
This is a different subject anyway as we're supposed to talk about when mods and admins aren'tthere!

Well if they don't take the time to read the guide, and they 'presume' blatent offensive language is acceptable; not only do I not see them fit for this site, but I seriously question their intellect.

Please remember these people are in a vast minority so why should we let them leave a negative mark on the entire site?

<snipped>

Anyone who swears, especially in a public forum like this, does so out of pure lack of intellect. There is no other explaination.

No matter whether you're mad, drunk or whatever, there's no excuse for stupidity!

Dont forget, by signing up to the site you contractually agree to have read the rules, so no member can say "i haven't read them"
