LOL thats because the balls are so much bigger it's impossible to pot them let alone fluke them!

Christmas day this year was 60% busier than last year, but still numbers are down on other days. Even so, last week was the busiest ever week on funkypool.
Current breakdown between games played is:
44.5% 8 Ball UK
20.3% 8 Ball
_5.6% 8 Ball Pro
22.5% 9 Ball
_7.1% 9 Ball Pro
This shows the new table is almost as popular as the UK table (add up the 8 and 9 ball figures).
Pro games probably take at least 50% longer to play, so table time would be a good comparison.
So long as significant number of users use the Pro games then it will remain (and there currently are) and I forecast that the proportions between users on the US tables will not change significantly in the future.

Oh well, can't argue with the numbers!
Hopefully a lot of the new users (I assume there would have been lots of signups following the change in guest policy?) will move on to the pro tables after getting a taste from the new ones.
Well done Nick, nice one!
<spinner tries to avoid being a scrooge and grumping about the old tables being better - blasted christmas spirit!>

Spot on. There's less flukes because people don't hit'n'hope half as much on the new tables. As mentioned before, you have no choice but to play 9ball the proper way now, because if you go blasting for fluke combos every shot your opponent will clear.
I much prefer these tables. I started playing in a US8 pro tourney the other day, and realised I couldn't carry on. The will to play 8ball on that table has totally gone. I'll still play 9ball pro, because 9ball is such a great game that I think you can play it on either, but old 8ball is boring compared to new.

Just by logging on and taking a peek at the games going on gives a clear indication at how more popular the new games are!
Went online (i think it was sat night) and had a look. There was only two games going on on 9 ball pro, both tournament semi-finals!

Yep. Very frustrating waiting for a game, so you end up just going to the new tables to get one, and personally i just give up (like i have now) and let the other player carry on.
I do think the naming is misleading, the new games should be the pro games, as obviously bigger balls and same size pockets makes for a harder game.

As much as I respect most of what you say spinner, there are times I seriously wonder about you *shaking head in despair smiley*
You are the only person posting that it's harder to pot on the new tables.
Absolutely everybody else, everybody, says it's easier to pot.
I know I've mentioned refraction to you before..but do you know the story of John Ross (searching for the NW passage up near you)and the small pile of rocks that appeared as a huge mountain range blocking the sea because of polar refraction?
Well...that's you, that is.

tee-hee. i like the new games, because as a crap pool player, its much more fun to actually go into a game and pot more than 1 ball. the new us tables are just like uk ball for me, the big balls help me pot, and i'm doing much better. i agree with the labeling of the old tables being pro, because they have always been very challenging, and that's the main reason i didn't play them. i suppose that if i were to have played us pro for ages, it would be a difficult transition, but hey, who's not up for a challenge?

LOL well, i know, i have seen this, but i put it down to the people who find it harder just not bothering to post.
However, explain to me please how making the balls bigger, but leaving the pockets the same size, can possibly make it easier to pot?
Funny how that point is being overlooked innit!
Edit - after comparing screenshots it was clear that my table wasn't refreshing - sorted by re-installing. Now all i have to do is keep smakcing balls and something always goes in! Yippeee!

Just logged on
Compared the 2
9 ball = bigger pockets
You 2 screenshots, also show the table to be exactly the same, when they do vary in size...hmmmm
