Rather than spin (yeah yeah) the "ranked tourney" thread off topic, and because i cant find the old one (might even have been on poolsharks), how about re-starting the campaign for all games to be ranked.

Nick has said before about this being the ideal situation, and then rank would actually mean something and truely reflect a players ability.

After all, if you want a live practice, just login as a guest!

yeah that would certainly make things much more fun

but i'm terrible, its depressing to see a 600's rank, i love playing for fun and still maintaining a competitive rank, if i was always worried about my rank it wouldn't be fun

i agree with brighteyes most people just play funkypool for fun so they just play friendlys to get to know ppl

uhhh... i'm not sure i said that, but thanks. i mean i figure if all games were to go to ranked i could deal with it, and i'd just be in the running for worst rank ever, but its still nice to have some games to not worry about.

I understand what you mean Brighteyes, but if al games were ranked you'd soon forget about it, as opposed to you current state of worrying about it when you're playing ranked games.

I aint to bothered about it, but like brighteyes said...i can see ma rank going downhill if it does happen, and also i like to play a friendly or 2 b4 tournies, would mean losing rank if i had to leave because of invite!!

Well pretty_woman you got more of a challenge to get it back up!

Most people play on 'bad form' (or just say they do) when they play ranked games because they are nervous about losing rank e.t.c. but like spinner says, you will eventually adapt to it if this idea was to be put into action, hence playing as you normaly would.

You also have the problem of players reaching a certain ranking level and staying there (e.g. 800.5).

Combining this with removing inactive players from the tables would mean they showed the genuinly best players at any one time.

well i'd never claim that i only play bad on ranked games, i'm genuinely crap at all games, but i play ranked and i concentrate and try to play proper pool techniques (try being the keyword) ... but in friendlies i just don't really give a darn, and sometimes thats kind of nice. i would probably whine for the first couple weeks of all ranked games, but i'm sure myself and many others could suck it up and face the facts that we are indeed.......a poo rank
