i was just flicking through the forum and i saw someone browsing but not online.

I was think you could have an inbox and a send messages thing so you can contact ppl not online.

pros of this you can give ppl a nudge and tell them to get online or ask them questions whatever.

cons of this - moderating how could that be sorted? ppl will abuse if they can

what do you reckon guys?

thoughts are appreciated

morning beannie, good idea, but ??? i think it will b abused by the nasty players on here, the ones who dont lyk loosing, they will prob leave a nasty note 4 u 2 read admin will prob not b able 2 check them all, so a complaint button wud have 2 b added, unless u can have ur own password of which u wud only give 2 ur most trusted friends

i suggested it b4 and it got shot down in flames. I think it wud help alot of stuff.

I like this idea, but i reckon it would be abused, badly.

It would just be a mess, with spam, threats and just general offensive language included, it would just be another knot for the team to untie.

I can be no worse than the current PM's. In fact, its identical!

this used to be on the list of coming soons, as it has been asked for for a long time, and makes organising leagues etc much easier.

All thats needed is a "forward to admin" button, combine that with proper banning and there shoudln't be any problem..

Yeh i agree spinner, if they bring in proper ip banning then it might not get abused as much, but i think the way things stand moderators and admin etc have got there hands full without something else for them to do! I would like a comment from mod/admin if possible!! Cheers!

yeah great idea and dont you all rekon if there is abuse in there it will be easier to see and prove what users are doing it? it might actually make the people who abuse this site think more about what there doing if they wanna stay on the game.so im all for it

I'm not keen for the simple reason that if someone wants to chat or be contacted, they will log in properly, and if they don't ( and would rather just post on the forums, look at stats etc,) they stay off the main game.


It should be a personal choice as to whether you want to be sociable or not

See thats what i think martin, i sometimes just come on to look at forums, but i like the idea of a message type thing!

Well all the forums i have used that have a PM system also offer you the option to ignore them, or only accept messages from friends.

There are lots of practical reasons why this would be useful, since in-game messages only work when both parties are logged in.

In some ways replacing the current PM system with a forum based system would be a notable improvement, not least because it would get around the problem some people have with PM windows "popping up" in front of the game window, and the other user doesn't have to be signed in to the game..

i would have to semi-disagree, i think the offline messaging is a great idea, and if you don't want th em..well just delete them or have an option to ignore them like spinner said, but i would be devastated if the current pm system was replaced. i was wondering about offline messaging, but i do see how it could be troublesome to certain users, and maybe would take a great deal of time to work out..think about it nick pleaseeee

edit: like for instance, i never see spinner playing, so i could use offline messaging to say i'm sorry

i'm not entirely sure what i want but i just want a way of contacting someone who is browsing. this would help arranging the pool events and things. Also it would be alot safer than ppl ahving to give out personal details like email addresses.

i reckon a watered down version would be a good idea, when the official leagues start, it could be made availible only to players in official leagues so thy could contact others about orginising games

Yeah, i think this is a brill idea Beannie, i agree with spinner as its no different from pm's of someones gettin abused. You can use a compliment button to hit if one is affending in any way, and you could all have a password which you only give to people you trust, and before they send you an offline message they have to type in that password for it to reach you, common Nick, i think the idea's brill.

I was thinking, i guess as soon as you log in, people can contact you, i don't like that.

What if someone wanted to browse the forums in peace rather than getting inevitable abuse from someone, yeh you could sure block off this thing, but what's the point if all of us will maybe block it off anyway?

If you want to chat to someone log in, and if you want to leave a message regarding games and leagues etc, that's what game shouts and pool events forums are for.

I reckon it could be another problem for the moderators to contend with.

Myspace is hellish for abuse these days too.
