edit - just tried another one with a link that was 95 characters long, including the brackets and word 'link' within the bracket. and then filled the screen up to as the one above, but to '0 characters left' charaters left. And it said it was 115 characters over

edit 2 - another interesting one. After repeating the above experiment. On the page with the message ''115 characters over'' at the top i couldnt add more text to the end of the paragraph, as normal when it says 0 characters left. But you could in fact add additional letter in the middle of words already there. but only 1 in between each letter. i added about 30 and clicked submit. It then came up again with all the new letters, but still said only 115 over. quick copy and paste into wordpad said it was 1190 characters.

It's an error - after you make a post the smiley tag is converted into the HTML image code, which takes it over your limit.

However your limit should be checked against what you enter - not what it's converted into. Fixed for next patch.

For now - just keep away from the limits / use less smileys.
