what would happen if someone played over 1,000,000 games on one type of pool. would it be reset or will it carry on til the end of time

(and also what does it mean if some threads in the forum are sticky? have they fallen into a pot of honey lol)

Sticky means the thread is currently inportant/controversial/ just look at it!

1,000,000 games? I think we would have to make them a medal, and possibly a guidance counsellor.,,

1,000,000 games would take some doing, and some time. Considering the average time scale of a game is about 180 seconds (3 minutes), thats just short of 6 years continuous game play without a single break, considering people have lives (with the exception of me who has just stupidly taken time to work that out), need sleep, have to eat etc i dont think its going to happen anytime soon. Realistically it'd take someone 27 year to do it. (playing 5 hours a day 7 days a week) On a lighter note, id want more than a medal, i think a new computer would be more fitting., and no doubt needed...maybe a new life too?

27yrs...so...I don't reckon we need to worry about this one yet.

Edited cos tyler did exactly the same calculation as me, even down to assuming that even the most crazed user (squeezy) wouldn't play over 5 hrs a day!!! I got 28 yrs. Gr8 pedants think alike tyler

whoah bloody hell i didnt want a massive scientifical mathematical explanation for it....it was just a query.
i take it that this game will be around for another 10 years and im sure in 10 years time there will be a funkypool veteran who used to play the old funkypool and everything and will be playing it in 10 years time with the same account they had 10 years ago and they might reach it. now im gonna play funkypool hardcore now and not stop til i get to 1,000,000 games before 27 years. there are too many assumptions that ur making. some games last about 5 seconds.......i.e golden break....and how do you know that the average game takes 180 seconds...did u sit at home timing it lol?

* Has mental images of squeezy, martin_blank and pool_life walking around with walking sticks all wrinkly moaning about the youth of today, and the fact someone else had moaned about the bloody sky add again*

I forgot someone, hahaha *And there's spinner telling em it's not nicks fault, it's not the adds and giving them a link to sort out the problem*

And then there's me, i now have 2 eyes and am named 2_eyes because some japanese guy got clever!! The wonderful future!

Good point sasb2b, but there the other end of the scale where games take 5 mins, hence the ''on average'', it balances out. As for the time frame of a game, i thought back to how long it took me to play 60 games in what should have been a 1st to 50 and did a quick calculation which came up with just short of 3 mins, so i rounded to nearest minute as a average.

Plus matrin agreed, so it must be right

Yep martin great pedants think alike.....erm, whats a pedant?

lmao, i somehow knew that question was coming next, its for UK and its for my own personal timescale, people who runout alot will have a slightly faster timescale. Like i said, its a average and i dare say its not much different for the other 2 game types. Either way, its still a long long time, so i wouldnt worry too much about it, but good luck getting there.

well im gonna set the time limit for each shot to 10 seconds and then play us 9 ball and be the first to play 1,000,000 games....if you just potted the black constantly a million times on us 8 ball or uk 8 ball would u get banned?

Quite possibly, as you would be bumping everyones rank who you played, but assuming your allowed and it'd take you 5 seconds per game to do, your still looking at 8 weeks of constant fouling. Let me know when your done, i really want to see your rank

if u kept fouling constantly that would be throwing every game so cheating, so u would be reset or banned every 20 or so games.

So u can't do it that way.

But you could play round the clock, 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week for 5 years. That would bring you within a few thousand games of your target.

I love these mathematical threads

Yep, bout right martin, chances are you'd die at some point though, either from starvation, malnutrition or quite possibly boredom.

You still didnt answer though......whats a pedant?

And finally, yeah, the maths threads are great, keep asking strange questions sas, great for passing time.
