Its easy just to say get rid of it but no ads means no site! Try looking at the advice for lag problems on threads and on the help.

i have decided to use different browsers to see if this changes anything and i have found the opera is the best to solve this . The adds on there are really small can only just about see them and it does no effect game play. give it a shot lads

Just a quick question Spinner. You claim to play on a 33.6k dialup. With no lag. Now im no expert but, it HAS to ping around 350 plus! How on earth do you manage it?

I think things are getting a bit confused here.
The problem is not and has never been the dial-up speed. funkypool uses low bandwidth (even the adverts are of neglible size)
The problem when people were not responding was either:
1. due to network specific problems (outside our control).
2. the last few days the server was running slow, which a reboot has resolved (albeit mainly temporary).
The problem people are calling lag is caused by the shockwave advert taking up the majority of the processing power and preventing the game running correctly. Why this affects only a subset of users I'm yet to find out (I previously asked for users details but there were never any common distinguishing details between people who had the problems).
In the future I'm thinking of having a group test for choosing which adverts can be shown and not, maybe using a some willing volunteers who can beta test the new ads.

Nick I'd be happy to test out any versions of windows or Java you need, Hopefully there will be a range of users with different op systems to save me installations but if not im here...

Me too. I'm always trying different versions of everything depending on what people say thier setup is!
Scaley - i think Nick explained it well above - you can pull the modem connection out and keep playing with or without lag!

Did anyone ever think Nick wants the ad's to lag our computers?
Cynical i know, but never mind you can all look forward tp premium when you can pay not to have adverts.

Nick i would test it out for the ads as i have experienced major lag from this sky advert and many other so it would be a hard test for my 8mb broadband

The adverts should not adversely affect any users game experience as said before. We have not seen one message sent to us about any problems caused by adverts - however about 10 people write about it constantly on the forum.
It seems a few users do not see the need for adverts and they are the first thing to blame when something is not working. However, they have only caused problems on a low minority of users machines.
By the way, Less than 30% of funkypool has been paid for by adverts. The rest has come from my savings or working for free (in my spare time). I'm not overly concerned about this - I enjoy this (mostly!) and eventually the time and effort *may* be rewarded.
Also I should mention that the funkypool staff on the whole give their time voluntarily, so we should all be greatful for that (me included!)

1_eye - If yu dont get most of the ads it probably means you dont have flash installed, which is the best possible solution for those who have "ad lag".
SpiNNeR... <recovered>
(Middles_boro - what did that have to do with anything here! LOL!)

TY spinner, so all people moaning about lag, un-install flash and no more moaning! Sorted, but i guess you'll all find something else to blame, other than you being rubbish of course!!!!
