Its a program which enables you to play console games on your PC. You then download the games or 'roms'. I have SNES emulators Megadive(Genesis), etc.
Great for playing all those retro games, but the quality for playing newer systems is pretty low, and will stay that way for a while.

If your interested

http://www.emulator-zone.com/

should get you started.

There arent many working ps2 emulators (without viruses), but if you are interested in Nintendo emulators you can buy a nintendo wii coming out soon, and download all the old nintendo games to play on it. Hope that helps

Lol scaley, i agree.

I love my GBA emulator, pokemon on my laptop!!
How about an X-Box 360 emulator, that would rule! but would wreck your PC probs.

If you want to play the old sonics...

FreezeSMS is a great master system emulator.

Gens32 is a good MegaDrive (genesis) emulator.

Poolcue - Sonic was Sega and Zelda was Nintendo..

Megadrive and Snes resectively, there are planty of good free emulators out there, the key is to only roms and emulators download from websites. File sharing programs are a total minefield...

My personal favourite at the moment is Wrestlemania 2000 on the UltraHLE (the N64 emulator)

I have a PS2 emulator on the laptop that my wife uses to play NFSU so i'll check out which it is and let you know, seems to work with almost all games...

The decent PS and PS2 emulators generally run the games from disks.

Obviously since PS2 games basically come on DVD you could be downloading an 8.5Gb ROM!

You can always (and legally) copy game disks to your hard drive and run them using a virtual drive (microsoft's one is nice and simple : http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/b/6/7b6abd84-7841-4978-96f5-bd58df02efa2/winxpvirtualcdcontrolpanel_21.exe )

K3v... you never read my posts before replying do you! LOL!

(And unless you're a terminator or something, the discs would have cleaned up just fine...)

Haha...

Well, you know you can always DL the ISO's of the games, but obviously i aint telling you how on here!

Ok, the emulator i setup was PCSX2. We had no sound on the version running at the moment but i see they have got it working now for quite a few demos, so will try out the newer versions later.

Get it here : http://www.pcsx2.net/

I'm sure the FP forums will be glad i've got something else to occupy me for the weekend!
