Well, personally i think there should be a freeze chat window button, maybe it could make the moderators life easier if they miss something???

If the moderator is in the room then i suspect they will be keeping one eye on the chat. However to review a situation and take neccesary action i think that in some cases it could be used to an advantage, for example if a lot of people are in the room *peak times*

Yea, i was more thinking if the mods are attending to other things like PM's of users with problems etc, the acting moderator could scroll back and see whats been said.

What would worry me would be how could the normal chat be resumed. Would chat logs not be a better idea in this case. Just they could be stored somewhere on the site and then reviewed upon the reuest by the user?

Chat logs can be sent to the admin team, but i have a hint that normal chat is not saved onto the site and then can be looked at by the mod's admin.

Text takes up minimal space, especially these days with 500Gb HD's commonplace..

I would suspect a week or more's chat is saved routinely, possibly much more..

i heard about something, if you were in a call and said blow up Tony Blair or George Bush or something along those lines, then someone would get that information and you would be arrested, and i heard this a few years back, scary thought, if i go missing in the next few days then i have been taken by the US Gov. for saying the above

Well the truth is debateable and will only be known through history, but if you bear in mind what is possible with the simple system you are sitting at, just think what kind of computing power the high-level intelligence agencies have..

Google Earth (Or MS Manhattan) for example - look at the accuracy they are offering for free!

We use crystal clear 10cm aerial mapping at work, and thats just whats availiable to the public...

You guys know about the funkypool chatter option? its on the homepage and it makes the chat option bigger and hence easier to follow, however its nnot great if you want to play a game as it makes the table smaller, personally I think that when you scroll up,you shouldnt be bought back down every time someone says something!

I agree with that. Aside from the obvious moderating benefits, it'd be better for everybody to be able to scroll up without pinging back to the bottom.

Nothing like a good ping! But yeah, good idea, there are times and places for pinging, and the chat box isn't one of them...

(This applies to the game selection window too)

stop it jumping back when moving up is pretty damn tricky cos a scroll bar is an active x components and cant really be accesed through javascript. holding the focus on the text that is visible in the window and there fore ignoring what ever new text there is is possible but may screw up the whole scrolling. not my field im afraid. Surely spinner has a solution!
