I know weve all been 1

But just a suggestion to quicken up some tournies now and again.. ok we have time limit 22mins.. but what about newbies being unable to enter tournies til the 100 game mark.

I know some people from what ive seen like to change names alot and would argue the matter of playing 100 before being able to play tournies.. but the few who are actually new and not that good and hold them up.. surely it would be quicker and better for the games if they had to play 100 1st?

thoughts please.

Genuine new players should be allowed to play the tournys.

It's players on their 2nd (or 3rd, 10th, 50th even) usernames that are the problem, it makes it unfair on other players.

this is my point.. but only way to do it is bring 100 games in..

I think it would work better and improve standard of tournies

This is another reason why i have suggested many times that "newbie" should be time based as well as game based.

If someone signs up, the rank system works on 100 games as it does now. But tournament and forum entry is restricted for 6 months.

Sure, some people would still multi-use, but it would cut down on doing it "for the sake of it"..

this morning at 10 clock US 8 Ball (that i won)

i played 3 pros.. in 3 different rounds under new usernames.

maybe the site should be 1 account per IP.

Thats how the rules say it should be! But usually when i point this out i get a torrent of abuse

If more than one username logs in from one IP, it should be an instant automated ban (for all accounts) until admin get to take a look and make judgement...

Perhaps a way of applying for access to a 2nd username could be put into place.

Or applying for extra posting rights on the forum.

Or the ability to reset stats with the same user. (without having to delete and re-create)

Doing it this way would enable people who see the need for multiple usernames have the features that a new username would give to them while only having the one username.

How it is at the moment an automated ban would stop people who share a pc playing the game, banned over half the site, leave 1000's of people feeling hard done by.

I was thinking "tough luck" on anyone who didnt change IP between logins, but then most people wont know how so my bad!

It was covered before and noted by admin (IIRC) about the stat reset ability and forum posting limits, so hopefully those will be coming.

I would guess Admin will be as keen as anyone to sort these issues, tidy up multiple accounts, deleted usernames etc etc..

Aliases are another option, but i think we've covered this pretty well in the past!

Ref the point on restricting tourny entrance to exclude newbies - some of the daytime tournies already lack numbers, so I don't think this would help.

Also, the knockout tourny is one of the quickest ways to get addicted to this game, even if you're out in the early stages every time.

So by excluding newbies from one of the best things on Funkypool, you're risking them never reaching that 100 games..

Great point regarding the numbers Martin, there is, on reflection, no need to restrict newbies from tourneys - indeed there is nothing better than seeing a genuine newbie do well.

Its the multi-using issue yet again...

yer, just spotted that pumpit, if ur gonna say there r no other good players on the game, think again, probs about 400 pros on here... it would be good if some people could actually live up 2 what they talk about themselves.. like me, 100_percent, i only done tht so ppl would look at my account and see how close i am to 100%

Lol it'll never happen, there's 55,455 members on this site at present, put your guesses below to how much that figure would fall to if 1 person 1 account was implemented

I think newbies should be given a taster or drawn against other newbies till there are none left they can be drawn against that stops more being involved within the latter rounds, making the percentage that one wins is far less. This way it gives them an incite of what a tournament on this site is about and what they could acheive with hard work etc.

The problem with that is that quite a lot of them aren't newbies and therefore shouldn't be included. Forcing all the experienced players on new accounts to play against all the genuine newbies would make it even easier for them to get through!

There really isn't an issue with tournaments, since the games are not ranked, and if someone with a good record wins a tourney on another name, its no loss to anyone but them, since they could have continued building thier "proper" stats.

An Alias system, and increased poting limits for regular forum users with a good history, combined with extending the newbie period to 250 or 500 games (or ading a time period as i have mentioned before) would go a long way to easing this problem.

Middles_Boro - sure the number of accounts would fall, but the number of actual users would be exactly the same
