I hate this rule because luck always seems to go against me when my opponent gets a random shot because the shot ends up either going in or leaving me in an awkward snooker. If the opponent fails to take a shot in time a much more reasonable punishment would be to issue a foul and give the other player ball in hand and NOT move any of the balls.

i agree krauser the same happens 2 me, opponent gets a random shot penalty but it still hits there ball, but theres nuthin u can do bout it a random shot iz a random shot it doesnt neccesarily ave 2 b a foul

But what if you're in the opponent's shoes?

Sure, sometimes they work out for the person who missed thier shot, but usually thats in the early stages of the game..

Its like if you have to nip to the bar in your local and you ask someone else to take your shot, they may be useless, or the could be steve davis! Hence randomness..

If you had a random shot that always worked in favour of the opposing player then it wouldn;t be random would it!

If you dont take a shot in the alloted time your opponent should have the advantage by getting ball in hand. The random shot can be very kind to you because it can pot your balls, I dont think thats fair on the opponent. Its a ridiculas rule that needs changing.

In short, random means random, and so it should!

I suppose you could change it so that play simply reverted to the other player (no need for ball in hand, after all it isnt a foul or anything!)

But i think that would make things boring and take one of the most fun bits of the game away. I've been in tourney finals which have been decided by random shots - imagine loosing the fun of that!

I like the random shot too.

Ball in hand is pretty harsh when your shot gets blocked at the last second by an urgent chat window - 'asl please'.

So you are saying we should take away one of the really fun elements of the game and replace it with an unfair advantage which, after all, will be decided at random...

Not to mention that if that happened it effectively means that a connection problem means instant loss. Thats hardly fair or fun either is it?

okay, so i think the girls will agree with me here, but i thinks we should have a potty-time button because i cannot for the life of me pee in 45 seconds..i've tried...sprinted allllll the way up the stairs, tinkled like the flash, sprinted alllll the way down, and it seems like its been 5 minutes!! girls can't tinkle fast, its a fact! i like the random time shot, but maybe they should only have it in ranked games and not tournies. i need to tinkle sometimes, and don't' tell me to wait until after my game because when i gotta go i gotta go!

sorry kind of off the point there.

i think its part of uk 8 ball, if it was a ball in hand foul shot surely the game would become rather easy, clear ups are already easy enough without you being able to move the ball to wherever you like when a player misses a shot.

Why not just make it a "no shot penalty" or a "concede shot penalty"?

it spices things up
