When you come onto funkypool you have the forum, which is viewable to all and the game itself which is playable by all. However guests can't post and members can if they wish and guests can't participate in ranked games and tournaments.

This got me thinking, there are quite a few reasons to sign up to play the game itself, but what if you don't really want to play all that much pool, you'd rather chat to people in the chat rooms, what of the forum?

Users could have personal forum areas. These would be available for every user upon sign up. Each user, on their profile, could have an option to allow others to invite them to view their own forum areas. These individual forums would only be viewable by those who the user has invited. There could also be a limit on this, similar to the friends list. User forums could be customisable with regards to colour or even layout but the main forum would remain how it is.

Anyway getting back to my first point, instead of having 100 games users could have 250+ posts on their personal forum before being granted access to the main forum (the current one).

This would mean that users could talk more freely about issues that may be deemed inappropriate for younger users. It would encourage more forum use so that more opinions can be heard to make the site better. It would allow users to arrange matches with each other without clogging up the main forum or losing track of where the thread is, it gives users increased personal space so they feel they are getting more out of signing up and this will increase the number of players on the site which will create a more competitive game for all.

However, I can see that there are several problems that would occur, the moderation of these forums would be very difficult (moderation would still be needed for things such as racism), I think it would take a lot of work to create this although i'm no programmer so it's just my best guess, and also it would probably take up quite a lot of server space.

Would like a few suggestions on how to get around those problems and post any more you can think of as i'm sure there are more

Sorry Dave, but this is a pool site, a pool site, not a personalised forum/play some pool if you can tear yourself away from the forums site.

Thats only my opinion though!

Good point but I still think that it would benefit the site as a whole as it does link into the pool itself with arranging games becoming easier etc.


I also share nick's vision of funkypool taking over the world and we need as many ways to capture new recruits by any means possible, he pays me with haribo gummy bears to think of new ways to bring um in

I dont see why you cant just use myspace or yahoo groups instead, and leave funkypool for the pool!
