A good idea?Seems to work well on the snooker site and keeps those at the top active.Chatting to someone yesterday who is sitting on 12 pro ranks.

Well anyone below 850 wouldnt be considered one of the top guys!

The idea is to keep the leaderboard moving, these are the virtuoso's around the 950 mark. 850 isnt very hard to reach if you play regularly..

(I know i'm not up there, before you say, but even i slip into pro ranking occationally and i dont even play for rank!)

With so many tournaments being played now, there isn't much time to play ranked games.

I always play ranked games between tourney games! You can easy fit 4 or 5 in usually..

Remember there are only about 100 in most tourneys, but 50000+ players... Theres a lot of ranking going on!

However, this does raise the old point of why not have tourney games ranked?

I've always thought it would be a good idea, some say it would be hard to code, but i can't recall an explainantion of "why not" from admin...

I remember back in the good old days when the rankings only went up to 100, there was a 0.2 point reduction for everyone over 75 rank and a 0.2 point increase for everyone under 75. I think doing the same with today's rankings would be a good idea, but they would have to be proportional, as the old ones weren't.

Thats how it works now Mach_3.. However the cutoff has been raised to 850 due to the ranking change factor being increased.

Even someone with a win-loss as bad as mine still hovers around the 750 mark because of it!

Yes spinner, but in the old rankings 75 was the starting rank. I think that now there should be proportional decreases for anyone over 675 (the new starting rank) and increases for anyone under.

Sorry i'f i'm repeating something, dont mean to be patronising!

Remember we have rank factors now, so the proportion of increase/decrease is greater than with the old system hence why the threshold was increased to 850 (effectively 85 of the old rank)

Well I think it should at least be lowered because there are too many accounts just resting on 850, or perhaps an account should be reset after a certain amount of time of inactivity?

i play ranked all the time but mostley on us 8 and us 9 as i have to get my rank up on them. i am 888 rank on uk 8 and only 802 on us 8 and 783 us 9 so need some work done on that.

Maybe a progressive system would be a good idea with pros losing 1 point a day for the first week of inactivity,two a day for the second week and so on.
Not too hopeful as some of the worst sitters are the admin boys in their deckchairs.

ive noticed that the mods and admin scores dont go down whats up with that???

Ya I've been on the up in us 8 & 9 and down in UK, I can reassure you they do!

If you read back through the thread (or read the rules/help section you will see that 850 is the cutoff point, hence why anyone who is away from the site for any reason will come down to that level then stick...

You know its not their fault the admin boys are not playing.It's not a hard choice between playing funkypool or having another margarita on the beach is it?.
