Why do threads regarding moderators get deleted, some are discussing how the users of the site feel it would benefit the most and surely this is the purpose of the forum.

When personal attacks are made towards a certain user then that post should be deleted and the offender banned from the forum if it is that bad.

Several threads regarding the issues that users find most important go missing without a mention and I for one think that they shouldn't.

Well said squeezy!

It seems that we aren't allowed to voice our own opinion on the matter, if it doesn't suit the admin then they go and delete the thread, im sure they will delete this thread as well, this site is going down hill and fast!

I think it had become a pointless personal attack squeezy.

Like I said on that thread: this is a pool site, not high level business.

Having said that, the new admin has good IT skills, top-notch man-management and upper
-management training that far exceeds requirements for this position, and an unblemished moderating record. So who is ANYONE to question the choice?

Why would anyone oppose his appointment, but for personal 'jobs for my mates' reasons. They wouldn't. It's personal, and so it was a good decision to delete it.

Yeah, two mods have gone, but plenty more excellent candidates have applied, so there is no 'crisis.'

This site is about pool. Play pool, talk about pool, talk about stats...don't attack people. I don't direct that at you personally squeezy, as I know that's not what you do - your comments are measured and reasonable. Unlike those of others.

i dunno martin, that post seems a bit like you guys don't care about the people who use your site. i thought the point of the forums such as game queries and suggestions was to best fit the happiness of the users. when so many people are frusterated i think you should let them speak, true some people may make mean and unruly comments, but hopefully some can be grown up enough to talk about it seriously. i just hoped that the admin and moderators would want what makes the users most happy to make their membership to the website most pleasant.

Well said Martin.

Dont let this turn into a continuation of the rightly deleted thread. (or, quite correctly, it too should be deleted)

Even in the part of my job that relates to beta testing i have raarely seen such a hands-on attitude by programmers (admin) to suggestions from users.

Where else have you had personal replies to your querys from the "head of the company"?

Opinions are welcomed with open arms here, even "different" ones like mine!

Edit - was writing this at the same time as Brighteyes, and i believe that most users will be very pleased to see the offending thread is gone. Admin and mods *DO* care, more than many appreciate, about the site and its users, and the deletion of that thread was a perfect example.

You cannot bow to biased opinion of one or two out of nearly 50000! *THAT* would be irresponsible!

Take your point brighteyes, and you gotta agree that spinner's spot on there too.

Thing is tho, admin ONLY do the job for the ppl on the site. Nobody's paying money to be here. There are decent ppl running a site for our use. They don't deserve personal abuse.

I agree that the open discussion aspect of this site sets it apart. Everyone has an opinion. The opinions are welcomed and that's brilliant.

But while opinions on how the game and site develops is good - personal attacks on the ppl that administrate the site is a very different thing.

I forgot to note that all that was done was an offending thread was removed. No bannings or anything, surely you cant ask for a more relaxed attitude than that!

(Beannie - you havent missed anything, it deteriorated into a very sad state of personal vendetta's very quickly.)

i had a feeling it would get like that the same as when ppl weren't picked to be moderaters. It really annoys me and its letting the side down. My opinion is ...... if you feel that strongly use the contact us button there is no point on abusing threads as it wont achieve anything. were ppl jealous of pool_life?

Beanie's 1st post illustrates my point perfectly.

This thread was not a continuation of the pool_life promotion thread as I stated in my 1st post on this thread that 'Several threads regarding the issues that users find most important go missing without a mention'.

In the pool_life promotion thread the majority of the posts where not abusive with only a very small number that were, a thread regarding any other topic would have simply had the posts removed and the thread would continue, however because there were a few posts that criticized the decisions made by staff and I think this is the main reason for deleting the thread.

The things that some people say are not always abusive simply because you don't agree with them, however the person may not be able to put across their views in the way that they had meant to.

If the site is special due to the input of the users why can't they be listened to when they have something bad to say?

I know nick does the site for free, and for that i'm grateful, but it doesn't mean that the site is perfect or that users have to agree with every decision made, if they disagree they are going to point out issues which they believe contruct a good arguement to back up their own statements.

With decisions regarding other users some of this issues will regard the user in question directly, some comments being good, some bad. Saying someone has been abusive and would therefore be a poor moderator or administrator is not abuse. It is an opinion based on what you have seen, and this should be encouraged as it helps the admin team make better decisions. The person being chosen for the position should be able to cope with critiscism otherwise they obviously are not capeable of being in that position anyway.

The most recent case of this is the pool_life promotion, i've spoken to him and he's told me himself that he can take criticism, so why shouldn't he be allowed to see what people think of him, he can delete any posts that are abusive and look at critiscism and react to it accordingly.

My personal view on the the most recent situation is that pool_life should not have been promoted to admin, however I feel that he will do a good job as an admin as would many others have done.

I and many others that i've spoken to are not jealous of pool_life however some believe that the position has been given to the wrong person. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve to be an admin, just that some others may deserve it more.

Please don't use any of my comments to give abuse to other users as that is not the intention of my posts.

Good point well made there Squeezy....

I for one think that pool_life is a bad choice, there are many reasons which i wont go into because like people have said it will cause an arguement, and i dont want that too happen.

This site was all about user input and helping the mods and admin make the right choices about the site. It now feels like they (the admin) will make the choices and we will have to suffer the consiqueces, whether these be good or bad, without being able to have a say.

I agree that both users and staff should show opinion. As long as they make a valid reason it should be displayed, if not, then delete post.

To save time: I agree totaly on what squeezy says.

farren.

kk, lots of personal opinions here about good choice / bad choice.

Thing is, I don't know pool_life, but I know his CV and like I said:

1) He has an unblemished moderating record

2) In the 'REAL' world he has all of the following:

Administration Training
Man-Management Training
Top level management skills

3) He has top class IT skills

4) He knows this site and its users inside out

Can someone tell me why an internet pool site shouldn't be happy to welcome personell like this?
These are real life skills employed to help this site run smoothly...why is anyone complaining?

R u any of us going to do better?
